Computer was recently hit by lightning. Now have new computer and trying to install my quickbooks pro 2004. I have lost my key code and need to know what to do

    mike - thanks, but they bounce you all over the world with 800 numbers and get absolutely no results. Any other suggestions?

    OUR COMPUTER WAS HIT BY LIGHTNING. NOW HAVE NEW COMPUTER, IN REINSTALLING MY QUICK BOOKS PRO 2004 I FIND I HAVE LOST MT KEY CODE. INTUIT BOUNCES YOU ALL OVER THE PLACE AND YOU GET NO RESULTS OR HUMAN CONTACT. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO OTHER THAN WAIT ON THE 888 LINE FOREVER

The only way you can get the key code is to contact the store or where you purchased this quickbooks pro 2004 and they will be able to give you a new code for this one...

You have to call Intuit and give the info you gave them when your registered the first time.

    If you install it, I might have an answer that could reset the 30 day trial back to 30 days.

    I went to the intuit web site and got a number to call and got through right away.

Does it show

boot from cdrom?
did you answer (Y)
then hit spacebar?
have the bios set to boot from cdrom/first boot device cd-rom?
If any of these settings are not applyed you will not restore xp on your computer

go into bios and conferm settings

first boot device if set as floppy or hard drive change to cdrom
on some systems you can hit the (f12) key to bring up a boot window and select the cdrom and boot from there then it will ask the normal questions

yes, your more than likely running hp home edition. so what you need to do is find someone with a xp home edition OEM software. you will install the software with that key and then when you have to register the software what you do is go to the telephone option then click change product key and use the key that is on your computer. it will update and then register it

Need key


Most computers come with a sticker on the side now with the codes listed on the sticker. Check to see if you have one on your computer. If not call Windows helpdesk and tell them that you lost your code and have the CD and that you need to reinstall the OS they should give you a code.

We had a power outage and our computer hasn't been the same. Our business info is in QuickBooks Pro 2003 and when we go to open it it says "the computer does not find a "valid installation key code" and...


contact quickbooks directly, this is a quickbooks technical support issue and more than likely what has happened is someone else has regiteres quickbooks with the same key..

so you are either going to have prove to them you are the genuine owner of buy another

I want to download my Quicken business credit card transactions from Chase into my Quickbooks 2006 for Mac software but Quickbooks won't let me. What do I do?


"from Chase" you mean online (internet) or from another computer (include computer specifics).

"Quickbooks 2006 for Mac" what message did you get ?

Here is what I found:

Try these steps:1. On the computer that is receiving the error, test your Internet connection outside of QuickBooks by starting your Web browser and opening www.intuit.com.* If you cannot view this site, there is an issue with your Internet connection that does not involve QuickBooks. Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for support.* If you can view this site, start QuickBooks.

2. From the QuickBooks Help menu, choose Internet Connection Setup.
3. Select Use my computer's Internet connection settings to establish a connection when this application accesses the Internet, and then click Next.
4. Click Advanced Connection Settings, and then click the Advanced tab.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings window and verify that Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 are selected.
6. Click OK, and then click Done.
7. Verify the configuration of your Internet security and personal firewall software settings.
