I have a long lasting grinding noise on heavy cycle

I have a lasting grinding noise during the heavy cyle. The machine looks like it will not enter into the next cycle. The grinding noise is very loud like something might be caught. I looked inside and found no obstruction around the bottom of what looks like the garbage disposer. Please help!!

This is a cutting blade that helps cut up bigger debri that should have been washed off the dishes, you should not be able to see it if you are not taking the cover off,, where is the cover?? you might want to lacate this,, this might be your whole problem, it could be stuck under the dryer element, or lodged in undr the blade that throws the water around,, locate this and you might have found the problem

Shut off water to the machine, remove the hoses at the machine and inspect & clean the mesh filters in the water inlets. If dirt did get into the line, it would be from the water main work, not the sprinkler work.
It doesn't hurt to clean the machine filters.
However, I would be surprised if that would cause the noise. I think the machine has a mechanical problem.

You haven't told me how many times the light flashes, but I will take a guess that this is an error code associated with the water entering the machine being too cool. I believe the machine expects the water to enter at 110 degrees F (43 Degrees C).

To clear the error, press "Heated Dry" then release, then press "Normal Wash" then release and repeat this sequence until all the lights on the machine go solid green. Once this happens, hit ""Cancel" and the machine will reset.

The fix for the root of the problem is to increase the temperature of the incoming water in future (Turn up your water heater temperature a little)

Something is caught in the pump portion of the washer.

Check it for clogs or someting caught.A peice of broken glass or a straw, ive seen forks get caught there.

Danby customer service told me that it was built into the machine. The machine would shut off for about 15 minutes after that loud noise occurs. Then would finish the cycle after that point? Got infants, buy one of these products! LOL

I have a very similar dishwasher, with a very similar problem. I fixed it by removing debris from the water evacuator pump located towards the front of the bottom of the machine (the last motor before the drain hose. In my case, grape stems had clogged it up. Once emptied, it purrs once again. NOTE: don't disassemble the motor, just flush it out, there is an o-ring gasket that is a bear to re-install.

You most likely have either a piece of broken glass or hard food debris in the pump. There is a cutter within the pump designed to grind food debris and flush it away. However, you can take off the lower wash arm, remove the (recessed) screws from around the upper pump housing. Remove the housing (noting it's position) to clean out the pump and reassemble. **Remove power to unit prior to attempting repair.

most of the noises you are talking about happen often when something is down in the sumpyou need to take the pump apart and you will find something small in there causing the noise! i see if very often and common for this unit.
