You can use the lens cleaner disc in the cd changer as it will clean the dust if its on the head of the changer , the lens cleaner is available in electric stores ...........................
Good luck.....
What is the exact error it gives you how is it spelled exactly? Once you clean everything with some computer air then I would see how it works. Then you will have to consider replacement. With mp3 technology now. There are much easier ways to go about this. It is nice to keep it stock though.
Thanks,
Lee
Remove the system from your car open it up and spray the inside with a can of compressed air, while you have it out using a magnifine glass and a bright lite check all of the soldered points as they have a tendency to crack from normal driving vibration, if any of the joints are cracked they are very distincive and easy t pick out. all you need is a $ 10.00 soldering iron and a small roll of solder for electrical components.
The printed circuit board in my big rig failed and they wanted $ 2800.00 for a new one, it cost me twenty dollars and a couple of hours of my time.
As for finding a place to go through it for you check out a local stereo and T.V. repair shop.
hope this helps and good luck
I cannot read the error codes that you posted, because of the way FixYa reproduces your quotation marks. I am assuming that you have an error code 1 (one)... that is unique to a bad CD...Scratched, damaged, poorly copied (burnt, if you will); or a combination of the above.
Lexus does not recommend (burnt) CDs in any of their players. If you have worn/scratched/burnt CDs, mayhap this is your problem. I see this quite a bit, and it really is painful to extract the CDs from a seized unit.
Forgot to ask: Is the unit working properly now? Sometimes, the player gets confused (it sometimes tries to put 2 cds into one slot at a time, this will thow an error 1 also). What I have done with some success is to remove the radio, unplug all of the rear plugs, wait a minute, and then plug it back in. The player then starts up on its own, and the discs retract. The unit then works fine.
...For some reason, removing the fuses will not make it restart.
I'm not looking for $$$ here, just trying to help.

Hi,
Initially, could it have been affected by the weather? Any rain lately, was the car washed recently, anything out of the ordinary?
Repairs of this nature requires a number of man hours since this involves removing from the vehicle and inshop repairs.
This post might interest you.
Since it would appear that the problem is intermittent, then probably what would be required is mechanical cleaning and a bit of lubrication. If the CD changer is an original equipment to the vehicle, then it would be needing some sort of maintenance even if just cleaning.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Well..sounds like it has a temperature sensitivity..have you considered calling or emailing pioneer research direct and let them know what it happening.
and considering what that car goes for, seems to me that either lexus corporate or pioneer research would be more sympathetic.
used to be the case..only thing you might find is a tinkerer with ben franklin glasses poised on his or her nose..most reconditioning is a dying art..
and age, like many things, causes parts to stick(looking at my knees)
yo..toyota ed to the rescue..now what?
11 years for audio electronics is like going back to the cenozoic period, sometimes. i would say that your determination to resolve this is admirable, and looks to me like Toyota Ed is your best shot..maybe you will decide someone has helped you enough, and award some sheckels to someone..

No weather changes or moisture would have caused this problem. I think the 11 year old cd changer needs cleaning and lubrication. The problem is that the local car audio shops don't want to do that work because they make more profit selling new units. If I can figure out how to remove the cd changer from the dash, do you have any suggestions where I can get the unit reconditioned? Does the factory have a way to do this work. I do not want to insert the magazine with cd's that may be trapped until I have identified and corrected the problem.
The error code was 13. I checked the cd's after the unit suddenly decided to work again. All of the cd's were original music and audio book cd's from the library.
The first hurdle to solving this problem is to remove the cd changer from the dash and look at it. I am sure that 11 years of dust could cause the problem. I will try to do that this weekend and see what I can see. I seems that when you want to fix something, rather than replace it, you have to do it yourself. Thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone know what error code 13 means?
The exact spelling of the error is ERROR 13. I use the cd player primarily for audio books and I prefer to keep the automobile stock if possible. I don't like the aftermarket look on the dash. Also, most aftermarket radios do not have a cassett player which would limit the audio books to cd's only. I think I will figure out how to remove the cd player this weekend and clean it with compressed air. It would be nice to know if the error code provides any additional clues as to the nature of the problem.
