Question about HP (5185-6477) Motherboard
I have a HP Pavilion 533c. A few months ago while the pc was on for a couple of hours, it would just shut down. The indicator light would change to yellow. I would be able to boot it back up with no problem. The problem continued to happen, but the time kept getting shorter, and now it won't come on at all. The monitor doesn't even come out of stand by. When I turn it on the fans will spin for about 2 sec then stop and the indicator light stays yellow. I put in a new power supply, but still get the same results. Could the CMOS battery be causing the problem?
You could have overheating problem
remove all plates from underneath that allows access to internals and blow out using a can of compressed air (from Radio Shack shop or similar) and ensure fan vent is clean and clear. then try it with all plates off if OK replace plates and try again. If still shuts down laptop requires stripping completely to clean
