Re: I can send faxes, but not receive them on Canon Pixma...
Do you have the phone you are answering with connected through the fax machine? If you have the machine set in 'tel priority' mode, the machine will not begin receiving a fax until you press 'FAX' and the 'color' or 'black' button. Alternatively, if you have your phone connected to the 'telephone' jack on the machine (next to the 'L' jack), you can press '2' and '5' on the telephone keypad to turn the machine on in fax receive mode.

check the phone line that is connected to the fax . plug this line into a phone and check for a dial tone
if this is good plug back into your fax machine . power your fax and turn back on . then try again. hope this helps
You need to use your PC to send/receive faxes. You cannot directly use your printer to send/receive faxes. I dont know what operating system (e.g. Win7, Vista, Mac) you're using. But if it's windows, you can find instructions on how to set it up by clicking on the link below.
The FAX does not seem to get a connection to your phone line. Possible reasons could be a faulty cable, connector in the wrong socket on the printer (there are two: one for the phone line and one for your phone, which should be connected to the PIXMA and not to the wall socket) or a fault in another wall socket. Look into your online manual: chapter "Faxing: preparing your machine for Fax"
disconnect all equipments using the phone line (everything) connect the fax directly to a wall jack (a working one)
Send a one page black and white text fax to 1-888-473-2963
When your fax is received by the Test Fax Service, a return fax will be generated to you within five minutes confirming that fax was received. This verifies that you can both send and receive a fax with
your fax machine.
I am having a similar problem. You do have to connect your phone to the jack in the machine in the "Phone" jack slot, as well as have another line out to the jack in the wall in the "L" slot. That is all I know. I am having problems with my voicemail. Either I can received voicemail, and no faxes, or faxes, and no voicemail (fax picks up at specified number of rings). It is EXTREMELY frustrating. The machine is *supposed* to be able to discern between phone calls and faxes..and that is not happening.
I just got this MX310, and absolutely can't get the machine to fax a document. I know I have it connected properly, but keep getting an "incomplete transmission" report. There is NOTHING in the instructions about faxing at all! HELP! Thanks!
We have the telephone and printer/fax on the same line and, when the printer is turned on, the fax rings when receiving a phone call. The incoming phone line is connected to the "telephone" modular jack.
