Hp officejet 6110xi all in one

I don't think my MAC is connected to my scanner (but it prints and photocopies) Do I need Adobe Photoshop ??? do I need to install something???  I opened up Word and went to insert, then picture, then From Scanner or Camera and it said  "unable to connect scanner or camera. Check the connection and reinstall driver if necessary". How do I know if it is necessary??? How do I go about reinstalling the driver?

I did a search of your product's help pages on HP.com but didn't come up with an exact match for your error message relevant to an Apple Mac OS X. Before offering suggestions, let me make sure I understand the problem.

You have a Word document open on your Mac and you want to insert an image into the document that's on the scanner.

I'm actually not clear as to whether you successfully scanned an image in the first place. If you did scan the image, where did you store it to? Have you tried scanning the image and saving it to your computer? If you can do this successfully, try inserting the image into your Word document from the location on your computer.

If you tried to scan an image and got the error message, then there is a communication problem between your Mac and the printer. Since you can print, the cable connection must be good. If the error message is suggesting that you reinstall the drivers, you can find the instructions for how to do this at the following web page at HP.com:

Installing and Uninstalling Printer Software on your Mac

You may or may not have your original software disc that came with the printer. If you don't or if you need an updated print driver, you can download that software from the following web page, assuming you are running Mac OS X:

Mac OS X Printer Software and Driver Downloads

Occasionally, you can solve errors by installing print drivers that are more recent than those you originally installed when you first got your printer. That's the benefit of downloading the latest drivers from HP.

On the off change you are using Mac OS 9, here's the relevant software download page (the version of the Mac operating system matters):

Mac OS 9 Printer Software and Driver Downloads

If all you want to do is to insert an image into a Word document, you shouldn't need Adobe Photoshop or any other expensive software application. You aren't trying to do any fancy editing of the graphic, just insert a pre-existing image into a document.

I hope some of the above suggestions help. Post back your results and good luck.

bybee, I agree that the error message seems rather vague but the answer to your questions are at the links in the solution posted on October 16th. The link "Installing and Uninstalling Printer Software on your Mac" should directly answer your question about how to install drivers. The other link "Mac OS X Printer Software and Driver Downloads" takes you right to the web page at HP.com that contains all of the required drivers for your printer and Mac.

HOW DO I MAKE A COPY FROM A COPY ON MY HP 2420

You cannot make a copy if you are thinking of it like a photocopier. It doesn't have a scanner built into it .
If this is what you are thinking there are several quite excellent scanners out there fairly cheap. The scanner will come with software that will make it and the printer behave like a photocopier. The scanner we use at home even has a button that we just press to scan and print a copy as well as software that gives more options.

If you want to just print multiple copies of the page then this you can do. You just have to go to print options on a program menu and tell it to print the page how many times you need. You can also change the number on the printer driver but if you don;t set it back after everything after is going to print a few extra copies.

Can't find how to scan from desktop HP Photoshop Essential. Where do I look?

I use Adobe Photoshop 7. In mine it is located under "File" "Import" "WIA Support". Note: your scanner needs to be installed and turned on in order to be found by Photoshop.

Clicking sound from the scanner that won't stop

If it's coming from the scanner I'm guessing that the gears are grinding the wrong way and will continue to deteriorate. Safe bet is to have it checked w/ HP or at least have a technician take a look at it.

HP OfficeJet 6110xi All-In-One will not print

Presuming you're using a usb connection, try changing the cable with another just to ensure the cable's not defective. If that doesn't resolve your problem, try the following: Right click on My Computer. A window titled System properties appears. Left-click the Hardware, then Device Manager. If you're using a USB Connection, scroll down the list to Universal Serial Bus Controllers and Click the "+" to open the list. Your printer should appear there. Right click on the name of your printer click "uninstall". Do the same if you see any red or yellow markings on any of the other USB controllers. Then restart your computer and Windows Plug & Play will reinstall the drivers. Update your software and drivers from HP's website.
