Question about Televison & Video
I have a GOTECH GTD 5200 DVD player. It is a "Play Only", very simple. Every time I put in any disc and press play or any other key on the rmote or on the device itself it reads"err disc" on the tv screen. I have used a cleaning disk, and I have cleaned the laser"eye" with isopropyl alcohol. None of this works. The player itself has been barely used, maybe 10 times in the past year since I bought it. It worked fine the last time I used it 2-3 months ago but even after mty attempts to clean it as other sites have suggested it still reads "err disc". I also have misplaced the instruction manual, however, it is a "play only". Any suggestions!?!??!!,
Thank You, Bob Frustrated.

Connect the DVD player and while it is off, press for 5-10 seconds the 'A-B' button. This will help clear the 'Bad Disc' memory. Enjoy!

I had a similar problem...the machine, which had been great up until then, started to be very fussy when loading a disc; using a lens cleaner did not help at all.
I opened the disc tray and used a can of "air duster" with the straw attachment blowing in lots of air into every little nook and cranny that I could reach, especially in and around the actual lens area. The liquified gas under pressure must have been too cold as, at first, there was no improvement whatsoever when I tried playing a disc. However, the next day the player was working perfectly again.
It is worth a try.

Might be the type of movie - some of them are only able to play "G" ratings. Try this: click <play> 1234 <play> It will likely unlock the dvd that is in and will begin to play. You will have to do the 'code' each time, or there's an unlock program you can purchase.

Testimonial: "THANKS - I'LL SEE IF I CAN FIND THIS DISC -MAYBE RADIO SHACK??"
SOURCE: jvc dvd player no disc error
I did have a similar problem. It was solved by cleaning the laser lenses/prisma. You have to dismantle the whole pick-up the to see the laser lenses.
There is one lens which is held by couple wires and below there is prisma/mirror.
I did use ear-cleaner-stick and desinfection liquid (with alcohol) for cleaning. Now it works!
