Paper loading message says load paper even tho there's paper there

You get used to the "feel" of how the edge of the paper hits when loading it. Something has changed. It feels like something is stopping it. If I push it harder, it goes under the roller. Won't print. Receive message to say load paper even tho there's paper there.

It sounds like the loader assembly motor has failed/is failiing in the printer. Considering the printer can be bought for $50 and the motor costs $25 and $45 labor to replace, you're better off just replacing it.

    pm_paperload_219_er.gif

You can load up to 100 sheets of 20 lb plain paper or up to 20 sheets of photo paper.

  7. Slide the edge guide to the edge of the paper, but not too tightly.

    pm_paperload_220_er.gif

Follow these guidelines when loading paper:

    • Do not load paper above the arrow on the edge guide.

    • If multiple pages feed at once, remove the paper from the sheet feeder, fan the edges to separate the sheets, then reload it.

    • If you're printing on both sides of the paper, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If it's wrinkled when it ejects, the paper may be damp or too thin.

    • Do not load paper with holes punched in it for insertion in a binder.

    • Load the printable side face-up. It's often brighter or whiter than the other side.

    • Load letterhead or preprinted paper top edge first.

    • If you experience paper feeding problems, try loading fewer sheets.

    • If you're using special paper, check the package for special loading instructions.
Follow these steps to reload paper in the Automatic Document Feeder:

  1. Remove the paper and make sure it's not curled or wrinkled.

  2. Tap the originals on a flat surface to even the edges.

  3. Move the edge guides outward.

    pm_paperload_223_er.gif

  4. Insert the originals face-up. You can load up to 30 letter-size sheets at a time. If you load legal-size sheets, insert only 10 sheets at a time. Make sure the originals are not creased or folded and do not have tape, staples, or other materials that could obstruct the feeder.

  5. Slide the edge guides against the originals.

first, make sure you the paper correctly to avoid paper jam.
Single Sheets 1. Open the paper support and raise the extension. 2. Place your paper short edge first against the right edge of the feeder, under the tab, with the printable (whiter or glossier) side up. If you are loading multiple sheets, fan the stack of paper before loading it to prevent paper jams. Note: Don’t load paper above the arrow mark inside the left edge guide. Some special papers can be loaded only one sheet at a time. Slide the left edge guide against the paper. Make sure it is snug, but not so tight that the paper is bent. Reload Paper constantly shows up

This printer is very finicky about paper loading. I see this error most commonly when using auto-cut roll paper. If the paper edge is not cut perfectly straight, and it is not inserted into the printer perfectly strait, it will give you an error. When it does this, you can simply load the paper and press "cut" instead of "pause" when it says "press pause" and it will cut the paper straight. You can also set it to "Roll Paper Manual Cut" and load the paper, then set it back to "Roll Paper Auto Cut."

EPSON R1800

Clean the rollers down where the paper sets in the printer. Do not use cheap generic matte coated paper. Some generic matte coated paper will leave a film on your rollers and cause them to not grip the paper.
