I have a Hotpoint WD62 which intermittently trips the house main circuit breaker. Looking at other blogs I am lead to believe it could be the suppressor. Is this likely? And as also suggested elsewhere can...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

It really depends upon at what point it trips the breaker. During washing, spinning, drying? If it is during drying don't use that cycle- it could be the dryer heating element. A supressor is normally used on the motor to supress the effect of sparking from the commutator/brushes so I doubt very much that it is that- it would probably trip immediately all the time. It could, however, be the motor itself which is malfunctioning particularly if the tripping happens around spin time. I do think you should call in an engineer, sorry ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

No heat

Check on the back of the drum for a thermal fuse or relay. Common fault on tubledryers is no power to heating coils becuse of blown fuse or most likely the relay to heating coils is dirty. have to be cleaned about every 2/3 years depending on use.

F13 error during drying cycle

Hi, that indicates that either the fan motor is not working/ blocked or the dryer thermistor (thermostatic sensor) is playing up. Of course, the pcb reads the sensor so it could also be that causing the error.

Hotpoint Aquarius 1200 Washer Dryer not drying.

Hi, I think the problem you have is with the cold water inlet valve? When your machine dries it uses a small amount of water at high pressure through a restricter fitted in the water inlet valve. These break down letting in to much water which cannot evaporate quick enough for it to pump out causing the washing to become wetter than after the wash/spin cycle. The only way of solving this is to replace th tree way water inlet valve. But make sure that the pump is working ok first and that there is nothing in the sump hose trap which is located underneath the washing machine out the bottom of the tub.
Good luck.................

No Heat during washing or Drying

they are totally separate systems

for drying
one of the stats on top of the dryer manifold is usually a resettable type ie has a little button in the middle of the top. press this button and chances are dryer will work. an alternative method of guarding against overheat used by hotpoint, is a thermal fuse located on top of the dryer manifold. this may be open circuit. it is unusual for dryer heaters to go open circuiit but it is possible so that needs checking as well.
if a resettable stat has popped, the cause is often a lint build up in the dryer duct so if you get dry heater working and fault reoccurs, you must check for lint blockage in the dryer duct

for wash.

take rear bottom panel off and heater is slightly to the rhs. you will need to check for continuity in the heater. if you are unsure if the wash heater is working or not, put machine on the hottest wash and you can check if heating

good luck
