ERROR 49.FF81

From HP support forum possible defective hard drive.
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Install-Setup/M3035-MFP-49-FF81-Error-Code/td-p/1272713/page/2
you may be able to disconnect the drive to get the printer operational,
but you lose some functionality
49 errors are communication errors with other devices in printer.

Hp colour laserjet 9500hdn has service error 49. FF81

I've seen this exact error a few times on the 4101s & turned out to be a bad EIO hard drive. If you replace the drive, you'll most likely have to download the newest firmware & load it to get every feature back.
You can try & initialize the drive first though:
- Turn off printer
- Press & hold [Start] button
- Turn printer on, wait for all 3 LEDs to stay solid then release button
- Press & release [Left] arrow button (should read "Initialize Disks" on display
- Press & release [Select], then wait for printer to warm up
Listen also to the drive & if you hear it clicking over & over then it's bad & will need replaced.

HP MFP 1522nf turns on and display error 49 turn off and on. The printer restarts and gives the same message again and again

Try the following: got to the menu (the wrench) and with the arrows look for service, press ok and look for restore defaults. After that unplug the fax line (this is very important). Go to the hp website and download the firmware update and run it (while updating dont to anything to the printer, no print, copy, fax.) when that is completed try to fax again this should resolve it. If not I recomend to contact a service center, it could be the formatter (the motherboard)

HP laserjet 1522 error messages 49 and now 79 when I am trying to fax

This more likely to be a problem with the formatter board. error 49 is a typical communication problem between the formatter and the dc controller. Contact hp tech support for a list of authorized service providers. 1800 334 5144
