Question about Hotpoint TDC32 Electric Dryer

2 Answers

Hotpoint TDC62 Hello, I need help! My Hotpoint TDC62 dose not turn on,there seems to be no power to the unit at all. I have checked the fuse and tested it on another item to confirm it works and dose. I have also checked the filter, water, and ensured the door was closed correctly but still no life at all (no lights) dead. The strange thing is, this happened six months ago and as we where just going a way for a few days, we did nothing to it until we returned, before calling someone out by chance we tuned it on and worked fine up til now...very strange. any help would be great.

Your dryer is probably worn out in the area of the front slide assy / bearing. They all do it. the drum is binding and stopping the motor sometimes...can be noisy too...

On my one it was the door switch at the top of the door in the centre there is a white little nob sticking out see where that goes into the machine and gently put a screw driver and push there is a switch in there which plays up

Always disconnect power while working on unit....to easy, disconnect the two wires from the fuse, take black electrical tape and tape them together, test dryer if it works then disconnect taped wires and buy fuse install new fuse. Here is a website that should help, Tim:

Most likely, the orange relay switch (Schrack RT314024) on the circuit board of the dryness module (blue colour) is faulty. RS electrics and Farnell has it. Costs £2.50. Mine had the same problem and changing it sorted it. I also replaced all the four small electrolyte capacitors on the circuit board (which you don't have to replace - I am a bit fussy with capacitors).
Your thermostats and heating elements are good (don't change these).

There is no circuit breaker in this dryer as such.
Establish that you have got power to the m/c, if you have, then could be faulty door switch, or you may have inadvertantly pulled a wire off somswhere.
Try the dryer in another socket and make sure you know that the fuse is a good one.

Hi,
I think the problem still lies with the thermal switches, they have a tendancy to corrode where the spade connector attaches to the body (see pic)
Hope this helps......Dave26db4bc.jpg

Hotpoint Utima Logic Sensing Condenser TDC62

lewensc...this sounds like a classic timer issue. Before replacing it, first turn off your mains breakers and then back on. Check all wiring from the breaker panel to the unit. If okay, then have a quick look at the items in the dryer and test them using a multi tester. If nothing is amiss, replace the timer.
