Question about Acer AL1916W 19" LCD Monitor
Hi was wondering how to determine my problem ? every now and then my screen will totally blackout for a second. the power light on the monitor does not go on and off or anything. this is sparatic and does not do it all the time . is the monitor on its way out ? ( only a year old ) or would it have somthing to do with the cpu tower ? thanks to anyone that can help in advance :)
That problem could emanate from either the video card or on-board video circuit.
The best way to separate the two possibilities is by substitution; connect your monitor to another PC and a borrowed monitor you your PC.
If you can swap with a friend for a few hours, have either monitor connected to a PC that is turned off, then turn on the monitor(s) first, start the PC. This should force Windows to 'find' the different monitor and install the appropriate driver.
When swapping back, you will need to do that again to restore the PCs to their original settings/drivers.
The problem is most likely the monitor and it sounds like a main power supply in the monitor is headed toward failure, probably due to one or more failed electrolytic capacitors like so many others in recent times.

Power board is starting to have capacitors fail. They will get worse !
If it were a computer signal issue your power light color would change or you would get a no signal note.
A year ! yep about that time for an overhaul based on the parts they used.
search and you shall find me !
