SOURCE: how to make Advanced Configuration and Power Interface compliant
Depends on the CPU, BIOS and the OS - your BIOS needs to support the advanced power features, so does the CPU and the OS. Only then can you get advanced power management.

newer os like xp and vista have many new power management feautures like acpi-advanced configuration power interface.. when booting your pc press DEL or f2 to enter bios and check if your bios supports this feature.. i have not used ibm pcs but still check with this..

For that particular software you are using,,the ACPI thinks your Bios needs updating.
You can re flash the Bios to a newer version if one is available, and if one isn't available,,then i would suggest turning off the ACPI functions in your system Bios.
ACPI controls the power saving features of your machine via the software, also the power saving features on any legacy devices attached to your system.

To resolve this behavior, contact the manufacturer of your computer to obtain a BIOS that is fully ACPI compliant.
To work around this behavior, manually install the Standard PC hardware abstraction layer (HAL):
Windows automatically disables the installation of the ACPI HAL and installs the Standard PC HAL.
