Need to find a replacement ac cord for a Durabrand AM/FM cd player. ( boombox )

    Hey "killer",

I actually thought of that but it's not mine...it's a friend's ...and SHE didn't like the idea. BTW, it's a Durabrand CD 203 AM/FM CD Player/Cassette player/recorder with a two prong plug that the ac cord would slide on to. The plugs look a little different than the "standard" two prongs that are fairly common these days. Plus...it's manufactured by Lenoxx Corporation ( Durabrand used to be a Walmart exclusive ) and they don't have a parts department on their web site AND they evidently are not known for "customer service" according to what I've read online. Thanks for trying..it is appreciated.

You can always get replacement cables from the local hardware store or simply order replacement cables from ebay.com or amazon.com. to do this all you have to do is get the product model number and part number and search on ebay and amazon.com.
Hope this solution has been helpful?

Works on batteries. does not work on ac. If you leave cord in it and turn off ac it still will not work, but if you take cord out of the unit it will then work on batteries.

If the AC cord can be removed from the back of the radio, then there is a mechanical lever inside where the AC cord plugs into the radio. That lever will cause the battery connection inside to be open (or disconnected) so that it will run off AC and not blow up the batteries. That is why it won't run on batteries when that cord is plugged in.

If it runs on batteries but not AC, find another cord to try. Most radios use about the same cord. If a second cord still doesn't make it work, it's most likely a fuse inside for the AC circuitry. they are usually mounted on a circuit board inside the radio right near where the AC cord plugs into the radio.

You should be able to take the radio apart (while it's unplugged from AC of'course) and find that fuse. If your good with a soldering iron you can replace the fuse. Replacements can be found at Radio Shack. If your reading these instructions to begin with, your probably not good with a soldering iron and you should just buy a new radio. Good luck.

Replacement Power cord for Durabrand CD-109 player

It is a standard power plug.
Take radio to Tandys/**** smiths or electrical store - they will have one for sure.

You may even have same cord around the house.
Voltage and watts do not matter - should be just a 240 power cord like radios, kettles, TV's, VCR, DVD players use.

Radio Shack carries various replacements. Make sure you know how your broken one mounts because they can look the same, but there may be a variation that will prohibit you from connecting it. If you can, take the broken one with you to match up. If they do not have it, check with a local electronics shop. They may also have a replacement for you.

You need a power cord with AC 120V, 60Hz 20 Watts. You may be able to get this from your local Radio Shack.

Answer below from:

You can purchase a generic power cord at Radio Shack. I had the same exact model and found that their catalog number 61-2875 was a perfect fit. It lists for $7.99. To be sure, take your radio in for an exact match. Good luck! :o)
