The monitor is not working at all with the pc except for when I turn the computer on the only graphics I get is the Monitors Check pc connection and cable prompt. There is no other graphics displayed.. The monitor works when plugged into my laptop tho.

Therefore I cannot know wether I have gotten in to the BIOS setup.

It was all included in the motherboard and ceased working, I was advised that if I got a new card to hook the monitor up with that it should all work fine and by pass the one on the motherboard. I cannot revert back to the original as it doesn't work. The only card the pc had prior to this breakdown was a modem card. I think the only answer now is a new pc. Thank you for your help.

It is the oncoard video connector that is not working that is why I am trying to install a new video card, So therefore I have no monitor to view the installation procedure on.

  • Webgirl66 Oct 17, 2008

Yes I get that message with both.

Can you get into the BIOS setup? Usually, it will say "For Setup Press Fn" when you start booting up. When you get into the setup, look for a menu item that deals with "onboard video". Set it to disable. Then "Save and Exit" the BIOS. The new video board should allow you to view the screen, at a reduced resolution, until you load the new software.

What were you using before you got the new card? Can you remove the new card and revert to what you were using prior? Let me know what happens.

Are you saying that there IS an onboard video connector on the motherboard? If so, remove the new graphics card and hook the monitor to the onboard port. See if you can get something that way and we'll go from there.

My apologies. It was the first thing you said. Must have been asleep.

So you get the same message, "check pc cable and connection" with both the onboard and with the new card?

No video on my optiplex 330 and lights 2 and 4 are lit on the front

You could try to connect a different, working, monitor first. Should this not work, then you can be fairly sure that your monitor is good, but the problem lies either with your motherboard or just the integrated video circuitry on it. That being said, there's usually an option of installing an auxiliary video card on the motherboard expansion slots - preferably an AGP or PCI-X16 graphics card. Should you care to provide me the service code number for the tower, I can check with Dell to see which type card can be installed on this motherboard. Thanks!

I have a nividia 8900 ver 100 graphic catd i need a driver for this puppy

Hello the driver can be downloaded here:

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

By selecting the model, and your windows system.

Also try automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products.

By installing a small bit of software, to identify the graphic card.

You just have to make sure, the driver fits your windows system 32 or 64 bit.

I suggest to use the automatic find function.

Good luck

I have dell vostro 1510 with nividia graphic card which die can I replacemant the motherboard with intle integrate card?

You won't be able to replace the on-board video without a fair bit of firmware hackery that is probably beyond 99% of the people on here including myself. Besides why would you want to cause yourself pain? Intel integrated graphics are by far the worse integrated graphics you can possibly have in a computer. Many many geeks will confirm this. Invest in a "gamer" laptop with dedicated graphics or a PC desktop if you are looking to do any graphic intensive applications. Integrated graphics don't even compare to even the wimpiest discrete graphics cards.

I have a acer m 1620. when i power it up the screen comes on and say no signal and then goes black. the fan comes on and continues to run but thats it. does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like the video cable is loose, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Also check if the screws on the video cable are tightened. If this does not work the graphics card has likely failed.

Installed AGP fx5500 video card into my pc. Turn on pc and monitor Light next to turn on button Stays yellow and doesn't turn green. Is card garbage?

First eject the graphics card from motherboard and try to get display from on board display port. If display comes from it then there is problem in your graphics card or in card slot. And also try to use the card on any other pc because some time due to electric fluctuation setting have changed and it did not work on your motherboard So its better to connect it on any other motherboard or pc.

The Computer was working just find then the video just quit working an won't come on. It is a onboard video card.

The first thing to check is the monitor. If able, plug the monitor into another machine to verify the monitor is good. If the monitor is good I would recommend trying a stand alone graphics card. If the video then works with a stand alone graphics card, then the on board video is probably bad. If the latter is the case then you can run the stand alone graphics card but the motherboard is probably on its way out. If the monitor does not work on another machine, it is most likely swollen capacitors or transistors on the inside of the monitor. If this is the case repair or replace monitor.

NEED TO CHANGE MY BIOS SO MY NEW GRAPHICS CARD WILL LOAD INSTEAD OF THE ONBOARD ONE BUT I DONT KNOW WHICH SETTING TO CHANG

Hello

In that way no need to change the BIOS settings, you can install a new graphics card directly. Once you are already installed the new graphics card you need to install also the driver so that it will work properly. Connect your monitor cord to the new installed graphics card. Now you can enjoy using your computer with the new installed graphics card.
