Rohl 3810 faucet nut not engaging threads

I have replaced a leaking Rohl cartridge in my kitchen faucet, but when I
replace the nut holding down the cartridge, the threads of the nut do not
engage. I have tried to push hard down on the cartridge while I turn the nut,
but to no avail.

Hi murphygm,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your problem is: You have replaced a leaking Rohl cartridge in your kitchen faucet, but when you
replace the nut holding down the cartridge, the threads of the nut do not
engage. You have tried to push hard down on the cartridge while you turn the nut,
but to no avail.

Assuming you have the correct cartridge, I find it helpfull to take pictures with my cell (easily deleted later) as I disassemble to make sure I'm getting the new one in exactly right because there are only two reasons why the new cartridge won't go all the way in. 1 It's the wrong cartridge or
2 something's not right. Take the new one out and check that everything is correct, it's easy to make a small mistake. That's it.

I just did the same repair project on my Rohl R3810 using the updated cartridge kit that Rohl supplied under warranty. The new cartridge is a bit different than the old one, and one of the O rings needs to be compressed to fit. You need to press hard on the cartridge nut to get it to reseat (it took me several tries to get it to catch). The cartridge design makes it hard to crossthread the nut but you should be careful to not do that, since that would likely destroy the threads.

Can you post a picture or reference the model of faucet you have, also it may be quicker to call Rohl directly as warranty may apply and they may cover cost of repair parts and send them to you at no cost. Rohl 714-557-1933

Would it be cartridge or something else

Not the cartridge. There are O Rings around the spout that wear out. These need replacing. Call Rohl for replacement parts

I'm going tobe replacing the cartridge in my Rohl

It is highly suggested to use the grease. The purpose of the grease is for (break-in Period). Without the grease, gaskets and seals rub dry and hard against the metal surfaces and could distort or wear uneven and fail prematurely. The grease helps ease the initial wear and give a better life. Also, it isrecommended toopen a faucet and clean and grease seals and gaskets before they are bad;sort of a preventive maintainance every 2 to 3 years. Good luck, Macgivor
