Sony VRD-MC5 - Using the DV input

Hello I have a Sony VRD-MC5 and have an Sony DCR-TRV27 MiniDV handycam. I have been trying to dub the MiniDV tapes to DVD. While using the DV input, I get an error "Waiting for Input signal". The firmware is the latest and I use a Sony Handycam. Is there anything wrong with the settings or it is a product issue? I could dub using Composite Video/Audio and S-Video+Audio cables.

I understand DV input would give the best resolution. Please advice.

YES -- We have the same problem too. We can see the VHS tape play on the DVDirect viewer, so input is being received. What gives?

The same happend to me. The camera contains informations of videofiles, which are no more present on the camera (were deleted from a computer). You are not able to record in full disk mode, or any other mode, which includes these videos. These missing files can be easily recognised, as the camcorder is not able to play them. Try to get rid of these "files", or ommit them from the recording list.

SOURCE: Motorola VIP1216 DVR and Sony VRD-MC5 Connections for Recording?

I have the same problem currently. I have successfully recorded to the Sony CM5 in the past from my DVR, but no longer can. I have Comcast and wonder if they have changed the DVR firmware and blocked output. Also some broadcasts have something in the signal to stop recording. I got half of my program done, and can't record the rest on DVD. I will try to DVR local news, then record to the Sony, to see if it's a signal issue or something with the Sony. I haven't tried to record from a VCR.

SOURCE: i have the RDR-VX530 video cassette recorder/dvd

Check video input setting to DVD recorder...should be set to "External" or "Line". This should activate the video input jacks on the rear of the RDR-VX530 and allow it to "see" your Sony handycam.

I am trying to make a dvd from a HDD video cam to a sony DVDirect recorder VRD-MC3 and a message saying non supported USB devbice keeps comiong up. Can you hellp?

The manual of the DVD doesn't say much for models, say's sony HDD, sony DVD, so maybe it's not compatible. Do you have a memory stick for the handycam ? If you stored the video on the internal storage, check the manual to see if you can move it to the memory stick, then put the stick into the DVD player. Or you will need a PC to transfer it with USB, then get a memory stick and put all the video on in and not internal storage, if the DVD is not compatible with the handycam.

How can i buy all the cables to the sony vrd-mc6

Yeah most common problem that consumers encounter. Recently I adquire one for my production company. yeah, I search around and the best site was amazon.com. Depending in your camera model you would have to chec if is rca videos plugs type or Dv to Dv, USB, or IILink, in my case from my Sony camera to the Sony recorder I use the Dv to Dv. Just chec your specifications to make sure.
Amazon.com has one of the most wide variety in cables that I have found in the internet one place and affordable.
