Question about Dryers

1 Answer

My kenmore dryer turns on but wont stay on. I made sure the door was not loose and it was on the time dry. Can you tell me how to trouble shoot this? i press the button to start the dryer but as soon as i release the button it stops, i kept the button pushed in manually to see if i can dry my clothes but even with the button pushed in, and the dryer was running, it did not get hot. should i still check the board for burnt components or is thier a safety switch that will not let the dryer start?

The ON button turns the dryer on but as soon as I release it the dryer turns off. If i "play around with the other controls" it may work. That means it's not the start button. What else could I look at?

    Thanks,

    Ken

my whirlpool dryer won't stay on all the time. If I turn it on, sometimes it will stay on for 15 mins...then shuts off. The have checked the door, it is not loose. Sometimes it stays on longer, sometimes a shorter amount of time. What is wrong?

Check all fuses and circuit breakers , if they are fine, then the problem is with the control timer.

Kenmore he5 dryer doesn't run, have power, door switch works, thermal fuse, have continuity?

What does the display say? Typically, these Kenmore dryers don't run because of a door latch error. We have had to have our door latch replace 3 times in 3 years. There is a lengthy trouble shooting program to bypass the latch error but it is time consuming.

How to replace a heating element on a Kenmore Elite Oasis ST dryer

Sounds like you need to replace the timer one the dryer not the element but to make sure I would do a little trouble shooting to rule out the element or heating coil turn on dryer cycle like normal for about 30 seconds then open the door to feel for heat if you do feel heat its your cycle/timer knob if you don't feel heat then it's the coil or element witch are the same also first always check your lint trap and ducts going outside the dryer make sure you have proper airflow through ducts vents. clogged vents ducts ect. Cause over heating of element coil causing a safety fuse to shut down heating coil/element but will not stop cycle also moisture censors detect moisture causing cycle to continue on hope this helps.

700 dryer wont shut off automatically

If it will not turn off on the Timed Dry cycle the failure is in the timer. The timer is the component behind the large knob on the console. If you supply me with the full model number from the front panel inside the door, I can get you a part number and approximate price of the part.

Dryer won't start - how do I trouble-shoot to determine if its the switch or something more complicated?

First trouble shooting is to make sure you are getting 220 to the outlet not 110; We all know that on a 220 outlet there is 110 on each side and if you are not getting 110 from each side, the dryer motor won't turn on. If you are getting 220, then try manual start. Hold in on the door switch and push the start switch. If that don't work then it is the motor.

check the ignitor under the door panel on the left side of the burner if it gets red when you turn the dryer on.if yes than see if gas shoots out and yes than how long it stays on if in few minutes it turns off than need thermal fuse checked so let me know up to this point if it works or not .

Kenmore elite he4 dryer wont run

Hi! crystal2hd
My he3 dryer does not have a door lock. The door switch turns off the light and allows the dryer to start. Make sure this switch is not damaged. Unplug the dryer before removing the front cover.

If this is a problem that when you push the start button the unit runs, but as soon as you release the button the unit stops, then I have personally experienced this. It's a problem associated with the microcomputer board inside the control panel. You will need to unplug the dryer first. Then open the control panel and inspect the circuit board for burned components.
