Connects to Access Point but the internet cannot be found

I receive this message when attempting to connect to the internet on the Linksys monitor screen. Every so often it connects to the internet for no apparent reason. However, this is a toss of a coin and will not consistently connect. What is the problem? And how do I fix this?

The main reason why you have this error message because your computer is not getting a valid IP address from teh wireless network, and the reason why its not getting a valid IP address is the wireless security or sometimes called WEP/WPA kay are not type in to the correct place, If you have a WEP enable on your wireless network you will have two option on the Linksys WLAN monitor where you can type in teh security key, you will see two boxes there when you try to connect to the secured network one says Passohrase and one says WEP key1 and if yuo have a wireless key that has a total of 10 or 26 key character you need to type that on the WEP key1 box leave the passphrase blank...But if it still didn't work you can contact this number for help 1-877-787-8749....

Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.

I can not access the linksys access point, the 192.168.1.245 does not link.

the default address is 192.168.1.1. if you still can't access you can factory default by pressing and holding the reset button on the back for about 10 seconds. after it restarts the ip address will be 192.168.1.1 leave the username blank and the password will be admin.

I just added the wireless notebook adapter and it

Is your wireless network secured ? IF secured then make sure that you are typing the correct network key / password.
if you are not sure about the wireless settings of the router then open the set up page of the router and check the wireless settings.
You are getting the message " connected to the access point but internet can not be found ". Are you using Linksys wireless adapter ?
What is the operating system ? If it is Windows XP then use windows utility to connect to the wireless.

Dell Dimension DE051:Wireless Internet Problem (Can't Load Sites)

contact Comcast and have them reset your IP address. also have them ping your modem after they reset IP.
Also, see Linksys website for LELA (easylink advisor) to add devices to network. Uses a good bit of memory so don't allow to run automatically at start up.

No association with access point

hi

is the access point WEP enabled? or is it public? as long as you are able to detect the access point, try and edit your profile to which you can connect.

if it is a WEP enabled access point, you should have a passphrase key to access it.

if its public...
try and use this...

Linksys WAP54G connection to WRT54G

Ok, so why do you need an access point upstairs and a router downstairs connected wirelessly? If you can't connect with a laptop or a pc, why whould you think you could connect the access point? The purpose of this configuration would have to be with the access point to the router via ethernet. What's the point? If the problem is range, check out http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/index.php to enhance the capabilities of the WRT54G... and maybe building a parabolic antenna for it as well. Plans to do so abound at Lifehacker.com.
