Play wav file through modem using mciSendString

=> Didn't try this yet, but when there is a dial-up
connection and I play the wav file in the windows media
player, I can hear it over the phone - therefore I assume
that the problem is not in the modem

modem? Does it have cables that connect to your sound
card?

=> yes, it is (Sportster Voice 56k). however, with this
modem the windows media player cannot play the file and is
stuck on opening it

Voice modems are very limited in what formats they will accept. You might
be suprised as it is often 44100kHz 16-bit stereo. Use waveOutGetDevCaps to
find out what formats it supports.

The Motorola shouldn't cause a blue screen, that is a driver bug and should
be reported to them.

Are you sure the US Robotics external modem is a voice modem? Does it have
cables that connect to your sound card?
