I've replaced the Cyan cartridge but keep getting the same message. I'm thinking of just setting fire to this useless piece of trash. Every OTHER printer I"ve ever seen permitted grayscale printing. This machine is built to hijack!!!!! Darn you, Brother.

All my color cartriges were very low, So I got new ones. Now NO yellow will print (only yellow). I do notice that the cartriges are slightly different on the bottom. Some of them have a "Feed hole" and a "Plunger-like" protrusion on the bottom of the cartridges. The Black and Cyan Don't have the "Plunger-like" part at all.. Are these different designs brother made and is this possibly the reason this is happening..

Made only 10 copies on this new printer when told yellow ink was empty and unable to make any copies. Installed a new cartridge and was told "NO cartridge". Have tried several times to put catridge in and it ask if new yellow was installed hit 1 for yes and get the same "no cartridge". Arrg.

This might be the problem. Did you ever move to a new house or something? Because my Brother printer came with something to put into the ink cartridge reservoir when I was ever to move it. I guess this was supposed to protect the cartiridges. Well, I used the contraption when I moved once, and the printer worked fine afterward. HOWEVER, when I moved a second time, I didn't use the contraption and now the printer says "Ink Empty / Yellow" even though the yellow cartridge has plenty of ink. Sorry if I got your hopes up about a FIXYA, but maybe it's a good reason why you can't find a FIXYA. =(

The problem here might be the cartridge. You need to replace it.

I have a Brother MFC 3340CN and 1940CN,fax,print,copier I was working fine and then all at one message was yellow out of ink please replace and start again. It has a brand knew yellow ink cartiage in it...

The ink that is given to you when you buy a new machine is not the same as if you went out and bought ink. The "starter" ink cartridges are not filled completely (that is a marketing gimmick to get you to buy more quickly). When you say "NEW" do you mean "new, never been used", or "new, just got it last week"?

If it's never been used, be sure that you have removed the protective tape from that cartridge. If it's been removed then the cartridge its self could have a problem or the machine could be at fault (not correctly reading the ink). You choices are to return it to where you got it, or buy a yellow cartridge and replace it.

If it was working and stopped after a very short time (a week or two) I would get a new yellow and try it.

For your sake I hope it's the protective tape was forgotten, it happens quite often.

My printer keeps saying to install a ink cartiage but there is one already in there.

Solution 1. you need to remove and return tightly the ink cartridge.

Solution 2. maybe you purchase ink cartridge that are not compatible with the printer.

Solution 3. if you are only refilling the ink cartridge, maybe it is worn out and the printer is no longer detecting the cartridge due to wear and tear.

Not printing

Sometimes... refilling is done badly and the ink has some dried grains in it if the guy who filled it is not careful... This can cause the cartridge to clog up from the inside... You can still use it but the life of it drops from 1000 pages a refill to about a 100 per refill.

The life of the cartridge drops on every consecutive refill if it is done badly.

How do you reset the blank ink cartiage for Kodak ESP 7 All-In-One Printer

There is no way to do that,. Refilling is also not successfull.

Try replacing the ink cartridge, other wise printer will not allow to even scan.

Hi fitz ;

I have been reading up on this printer & think I know the simple answer .
Apparently what makes this printer so fast (for text) is it uses 2 black
ink cartidges . You need to fill the 5th slot with a second cartridge .
If U would like some links to the info just respond .

Good luck

5100

I had the same problem too. Brand new unit and 5100 error comes on after power up. There is nothing jaming the ink cartiage, and it only moves a little bit to the left then jams back to the right. I can't even load in new ink cartiages. It's going back to the shop today.
