Erratic behavior - system halts with blue screen with error codes

The mother board shuts down the system with various error codes, one of the more common ones I see is 0x0000008e. The last one is 0x0000004e (0x0000008f,0x00031000,0x00008410,0x00000000) It sometimes does not boot properly, other times it will halt after a few minutes, other times after an hour of running. I suspect the mother board is bad. If booted with a linux system it gives crc errors. I have 1G PC3200 RAM (kingston kvr400 DDR). I am running an AMD 64 Athalon proccessor.

Sounds like serious memory errors. download and boot to "memtest86" to terst your ram for errors, but it may also be the memory controller.

you can try also to swap slots between the memory sticks and see if it works better with the sticks swapped.

Chassis intruded ! fatal error...system halted

Your computer BIOS should have an option to turn this off.
Or you can probably place a jumper on the mother board so the "tamper switch" is always closed.

Consult your motherboard manual for more info.

Cannot install winxp on asus p5gc-mx/1333

probably ur ram is faulty..replace with a standby n see..
also check for defective capacitors on the main/mother board..
reinstall os..

dis also do happen when ur cd/dvd rom drive is down or the cd frm where u r installing is corrupted..

the above often take place with some error message(s)/blue screen..
but if there's no such displaying, esp if hangs/stops/power off during installation, it may b caused by the main/mother board or even the battery..
..contact ur system admin/vendor....

BootBlock BIOS v1.0 BIOS ROM checksum error

Kevin, when you do get this going it is going to be a beast.Nice choices on the hardware. It appears that you are getting text in the bios menu and that is a real good sign. One bit of text you typed might be a clue." You typed Detecting floppy drive A media . . .
Drive A error. System halt" And you said that you had no Floppy. On the first screen were you see your time etc there will be something that says halt on all errors. Change that to halt on keyboard errors only. The wording may be different but you get the gist right? You don't want the bios seeing no floppy and halting on that.I hope this helps you and don't get discouraged. There is usually a simple answer.
