What is safe to use to clean Nikon D100 contacts?

I still will get F--- error where the camera won't work. I tried cleaning the contacts. When I put a little pressure on the lense by moving it up.. the F-- goes away and it will take the picture. I will get about every 10 pictures and a couple times in a row under exposed pictures.. Then I will get a solid black picture. I feel the lense is a little loose and not making a snug connection. Is this something that can be fixed?

Use Isopropal alcohol rubbing alcohol ans cotton swab That should work if they look really bad use a pencil eraser gently so as not to remove plating

Nikon no longer has the D100 manual on line; but if it is like the more modern Nikons, you will be able to select the resolution in mp from one of your camera's built in menus.

Try this...clean the contacts on the camera body and the lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Won't take picture

Remove the lens, clean the contacts, reattach the lens. Jiggle it a little to seat the contacts. If that doesn't help, either the lens or the camera needs service.

Stuck shutter D100 Nikon

The R06 is the buffer indication, not part of the error. It would appear more work is required. Other components may have failed, or the shutter itself may be bad.

I'm afraid this one is not a DIY. Nikon is pricey on repairs, you may fair better checking the repair service search here on Fixya.

Nikon D100 randomly has "err" code flashing

You need a new shutter box.
It may be worth cleaning the contacts on both camera and lens.
Clean the contacts in the lens mount using a fiberglass "pencil" designed specifically for cleaning contacts. These are available at just about any photo supply store/firm.

send it to nikon. seem like a common problem

Continous shooting with D100 - it doesn't work...

Mine too. It's a worn-out selector switch. Jiggle it and it'll work again. Time delay same. Our college has four Nikon D100s with this problem. Poor switch contacts.
