Question about Gateway Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My speakers are not working. The computer came with Realtek speakers but not with the normal jack. I believe it is a USB jack which I plugged into two USB ports above where the jacks would go. I'm not sure if it came with a soundcard. Device manager shows the driver working. Help.

Why my headset not working/realtek?

Do the speakers work? Maybe you have the headset plugged into the wrong Jack. Maybe you have the headset on Mute. If the speakers work, unplug where the speakers go into the computer's port and plug the headset into that same port and see if you hear anything. If not, maybe your headset is bad.

I have a new windows 7 laptop that I am trying to use my old yamaha MS55D speakers with, but it says there are no drivers. Please can you suggest where I might get the driver or what else I can try

PROBLEM SOLVED: YAMAHA YST-MS55D allows both USB and audio jack. On the back of your subwoof - find the USB ONLY area. Disconnect the USB cable from your sub and computer. Then use the other audio cable to link ur sub with the audio jack on your computer (the earphone plug). You don't need to change the other connections. Your Speaker will then function like an earphone, which means no drivers needed as it is not a USB device anymore.

I have Acer aspire 5741, OS: win7. The problem is that when I plug in headphones or 2.1 speakers the sound get worsed and I hardly could hear anything. I've insalled latest realtek sound drivers but that...

hi Dzhamal23.
you may need to setup the sound for your speakers.
First Check if your headphones work on rear audio panel or not. If they work there then you need to set your Realtek HD Audio to recognise your headphones. Do this:
Open Realtek HD Audio Manager from control panel or from notification area icon(a brown coloured speaker).
On the dialog box just below the close button there is written 'Device Advanced Settings' (no need to change the settings) and below this there is a Folder icon which shows tooltip text Connector Settings when you hover your mouse over it.
Click open the Dialog Connector Settings.
Tick the checkbox against Disable front panel jack detection and click OK.

i also found this on the internet.
So I have contacted Acer and I isolated the issue they dont support the issue but I have found through research that the motherboard has a problem relating to the headphone jack I have seen then listed for sale on Ebay with broken audio jacks I used a usb headphone set and received clear sound and after removing the third party software the speakers are sounding good too... if you have a nice set of mm headphones then you can buy an adapter that converts usb to mm so you can use them this way and that will prevent having to replace the faulty motherboard/audio jack

or go to this link and it will give you step by step on what to try out.

My coumputer is saying there is no device although

I guess you are using integrated sound, Realtek or AC'97 or soundmax. The realtek & AC'97 indicate when a jack is plugged in or removed. If this indication is not being given, try uninstalling and reinstall the software and drivers. If any upgrades or updates are available in the net, then do download and update your sound software...................sodeep

Try changing the setting from the "Realtek HD Audio Manager" Select the correct input jack, double click it then "Which Device did you Plugin " window will pop up select the appropriate option and shall work. If this Does not work disconnect the speakers from the system, remove the sound drivers & reinstall it again, connect the speaker. This shall work now

Rear audio does not work

Hi the solution for the rear audio do not work is cold solder connection to the mother board or the banana plug female connector. You have to remove the mother board because you don have no access to re solder the the frame cover that area. If the female banana pug connector is the problem the parts is available at radio shack. Before you do all of what I mentioned first you have to confirm by going to control panel click sounds and audio devices and watch the screen and speaker will gray out if the speaker is un plug or not detected. If your PC use Realtek audio device on the control panel click the sound effect manager and click the speaker test tab and perform speaker test. Then if the test fail perform mother board repair. Hope this info might help you solve your PC rear sound problem.

Only one of my speakers work

Make sure the cable is all the way in and that your using the right jack. The green jack is usually the correct one. Make sure any other speaker wires are hooked up properly.

No sound output from rear speaker jack

Plugging headphones into the computer will disable sound output from the sound card by design.
