- I am so sorry for not contacting you sooner. Years ago I made some bootable floppies in MS XP. It took around 6-8 floppies, and I had to use them on occasion when I had problems with operating system CDs, and needed a diskette to allow me to start the format. You could probably burn the same to a CD.
I believe that the following link will get you to a point where you can download the bootable diskettes.
Typically what you simply do when you use a boot disk is just place it in the computer then start it. It will then go into the set-up process, but you will still need a operating system disk in order to install the operating system. After you install the basic files the computer will restart then you need the actual OS to finish the format/reinstallation process. Sometimes prior to placing the OS disk into the computer and restarting you have to go into the computer system bios and set it up to boot from a CD ROM verses the hard drive, or floppy drive. The boot disk files are the same initial files that you will find on a OS CD. Hope this helps.
