I cannot open it with windows movie maker i use xp and won't work. It say's "it is not a valid windows movie maker project"

windows movie maker doesn't recognize mpeg 4 files. you need to use the software that came with your camcorder, or you might try downloading another player by doing a search for mpeg 4 editing programs. one other option is Media Converter (also media converter pro) there you can convert the files to avi or wmv that win movie maker can use.

First check sound settings on control panel, ensure volume is not at minimum and computer audio is not muted. Test playing a CD.

this is usually due to Media Player or whatever player you use on your pc, not having the right codecs to decompress sound from camera file.

Usually you sort it out upgrading media player, you can download update from links below.

We are trying to get some Hi8 footage onto our macintosh computer. We have both the VHS camera and the Elura 90. We have a firewire and have successfully transfered lots of digital video onto the computer,...

the procedure is the same ..for vhs...but you will need a firewire cable ..also ..and a program that will import from device...The issue is that Im not sure what program you need for MAC ..but if you have a windows computer available to do that ..things are getting simple..just follow this video..
http://www.5min.com/Video/Windows-Movie-Maker---import-from-a-DV-tape-6876
So...if you have a movie maker in your Mac ..the procedure will be the same ,just playback in the camera ...be sure it is detected by the firewire cable...and record (import ) with the movie maker...
Please dont forget to rate if this helps...

Windows movie maker

Windows Movie maker does not support a number of MPEG2 codecs (there are many different MPEG2 codecs, only some of them are supported by moviemaker). The easiest thing to do is to get a program to convert your MPEG2 to another format - like avi or wmv. A free program which should do the hob for you is mediacoder which you can download from sourceforge. Here's the link to mediacoder There are also plenty of other programs out there - my favourite is AnyVideoConverter, a free version of which you can download here That should solve you problem.
