I have been experiencing the same problems as those described by the poster, but for the past week or two (since early/mid October 2008) mine go far beyond that.

Not only do I have connection problems when first getting onto the EA Servers but once connected and I'm in the middle of a game I lose connections regularly.

Yesterday (18 October 2008) I tried for nearly 12 hrs solid to get a few decent games played and in all that time I had about 8 complete games with lots more that were never completed.

All the game can say is that I have a problem with MY network... codswallop (to put it politely). My firewall is recognising the PS3 and has allowed all the online games including Bad Company to run unopposed. I even run my laptop concurrently without losing my internet connection. So EA (or less likely Playstation Network) are to blame for the deterioration in the service.

I've written to EA Online and complained but I think this could fall on deaf ears UNLESS they get a lot of other complaints with the same problems. So my recommendation to everyone suffering with connection problems relating to EA Online or EA Sports is to complain directly to them using their Contact Us link on the www.ea.com website.

Don't ignore the problem cos without your complaints nothing will get sorted!

I hope for all our sakes that the service will get better, and soon.

All the very best to you all,

I too cannot connect to the demo multiplayer version. I was wondering if that was because it was the demo version. I had played it for months (Aug - Oct '08) and never really had much of a problem. Anyway, I really enjoyed the multiplayer game and I would very much like to play more.

this is my only game that the online is screwed up. i tried my friend's disk and nothing changed so it has to be my internet. i got anew modem and i have had this problem ever since. PLESE HELP!

Yes, I have the same problem, although I have been playing this game single-player since mid December 2008, and successfully started the multi-player with no problems in January 2009, however just recently (last couple of weeks) I have started getting a lot of lag issues and then finally Friday 13th Feb, I cannot log on anymore without a lot of retries to EA servers (it reports a problem with my network) I have to try about three times before it finally relents and displays the multiplayer menu where it displays "Quick Ranked" or "Quick Unranked" once I select either of these options it then says "No Games available try again later" however I can still succesfully use all my other multi-player games as long as they are not made by EA! I can also get access and watch TV programs via BBC iPlayer so I do not think the problems lie with my equipment, I have had similar problems with EA games on a PC in the past with multi-player that is what led me to move to PS3 - however I didn't expect problems like this to happen with a console they are meant to be much simpler aren't they?

Contacted EA support and I have to say I might as well bang my head against the wall for what help they have been, I have sent approx. 5 e-mails with detailed descriptions of the problems I am getting (including screenshots) but they answer with replies to questions I haven't asked - are they humans or some automated response system guaranteed to irritate customers?

Can anyone spot the common link with these problems? It seems to be the EA servers to me! What do others think?

Does anyone know how I go about obtaining a refund, I asked EA but never got a reply - I may be forced to try trading standards if I don't get a proper response soon. Don't get me wrong the game is great - when it works, but the poor multi-player support is a problem that definetly needs sorting out ASAP!!!!

it's not - one solution i heard of was resetting the ps3 time and date to 2005 and to a time it usually works fine at

for some reason, if i try to login after 1am (israel time gmt+2) it works fine till 11am (believe me i've tried it..:-) )

i thought it was because i was from israel and american players get higher priority - don't laugh it makes sense!

  • Anonymous Mar 02, 2009

Same here, all other games work fine

  • Anonymous Apr 21, 2009

mine doesnt even get that far i try to log into multiplayer and it says "The connection with EA was lost" I used to play the game all the time online i just got back into it and its FUBAR. It's probably a server thing but im over EA.they are down for weeks at a time.

  • IHATE EA NOW May 01, 2009

I got the same problem on my part... I can get in the servers just fine but after 10-11min it logs me out... i have been playing 10min bursts and i am about to sell it. It worked fine till febuary but since then it just sucks. EA FIX THIS PROBLEM!

  • noob11 May 06, 2009

exactly the same problem guys. I played the game for months on end on multiplayer now i cant even get online. Takes me about 7 attemps to get to the select a game screen, then i cant join any games whatsoever.

EA need to sort this out, its a disgrace how people keep reporting these problems but they consistantly fail to correct them. Its not even as if im been too demanding, i waited a week for vegas 2 to sort the server out anf i was patient. Now ive waited months for this to work and still no response. shocking!

This is because the Playstation Network is currently undergoing maintenance due to a recent hacking of their network. We are all still waiting for the Network to be fully restored, until then you cannot play and PS3 games online.

Just hang in there!

Tip

Watch YouTube videos with PSP - Online.

Getting online with your PSP is very simple. First, you must be in range of a Wifi hotspot (wireless local area network). You can adjust network setting to connect to an access point such as a Wi-Fi hotspot or the router on a wireless home network and save the network connections data on your PSP®. Up to 10 connections can be saved.

Hotspots can be found in airports, hotels, restaurants, and at home if you have a wireless network. Once in range of the hotspot, go to "Settings" menu, >> "Network" Settings and press "X" Button. Select "Infrastructure Mode" or "Ad Hoc Mode" and press X Button. Set up the "New Connection". For details about Infrastructure Mode set up, or Ad Hoc Mode set up, visit us.playstation.com.

Search for networks in range. You will usually need a signal of at least 40% to connect - the higher the percent, the connection will be faster. If the connection is successful, information about the network connection will appear.

Once your PSP® is online, you can: Play multiplayer online games with Infrastructure mode, Download individual files, Download a PSP® Content Pack, Surf the World Wide Web, Check out the Official PSP® Website http://www.psp.playstation.com, Enjoy RSS video or audio web feeds, weblogs or podcasts from any of thousands of websites, and Update the PSP® system software.

Can not get on the internet error code 051099-9

It appears that the settings entered into the Nintendo DS are not compatible, or the router's broadcast settings should be changed.
How to fix: Try creating a new connection with your system.

Create a new connection: This error can occur if a setting (like your network's name) has changed since you last connected. If it's been awhile since you connected, or if this is your first time connecting, creating a new connection file will often resolve this error code. Click the button below for your system and we'll walk you through the connection step-by-step.

Trying to play online multiplayer with Nintendo DSi
Even if you are able to connect online and use other online features of the Nintendo DSi, if you are attempting to play multiplayer games but are receiving error code 51099 when you try and connect, then your router is likely using a security type - WPA - that is not compatible with Nintendo DS Game Cards.
Try this:
If you are sure you are using WPA, click here for more information including alternative connection methods. If you're not sure if you're using WPA, you can find out by going into the connection settings on your Nintendo DSi and doing a search for an access point. Follow these steps:
Turn on your Nintendo DSi and access the System Settings by clicking on the wrench icon.

Scroll over to the third page, and select "Internet."

Now choose "Connection Settings."

Click on "None" for "Connection 1."

Click on "Search for an Access Point."

The Nintendo DSi will search for any wireless networks within range. Once it is finished searching, it will display the names of all the wireless networks it finds.
Look for your wireless network.
What to do next will depend on the "lock" icon you see next to your network on the Nintendo DSi.

No security - This connection type is compatible with Nintendo DS Game Card online multiplayer.

WEP - This connection type is compatible with Nintendo DS Game Card online multiplayer.

WPA - This connection type is not compatible with Nintendo DS Game Card online multiplayer. Security will need to be changed to WEP or turned off in order to play online. Click here for more info.

Other suggestions:
Make sure your router is set to broadcast in "b" or "mixed" mode. If your wireless router is transmitting in "N" only mode, you will need to switch it to "b/g" or "mixed" mode. For help accessing your router's settings, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). Most routers will have this setting in the "broadcast settings" menu.
Check for wireless interference, which can affect the signal strength to the Nintendo DS. To help minimize wireless interference, try the following:
Make sure other wireless devices such as cordless phones or wireless speakers are turned off, and that the Nintendo DS is an open area without objects or electronics blocking the signal.
Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker. For help doing this, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). The information you need is found in the "Broadcast Channel:" area.

Can play with friends on call of duty

sure you can, all you need is a broadband connection (wireless or wired) and a Playstation Network Account.

to set up your internet connection, find the network settings on settings menu on XMB, choose 'setup internet connection' or something like this, then follow the guide on screen .

then just login your Playstation Network Account in PSN menu on XMB (if you don't have one, simply register yourself in PSN menu on XMB in the correspondent option).

when logged in you PSN account, simply start up your game and access the online multiplayer option, it will connect you to CoD severs.

then, you must invite your friends (that should be logged on PSN also) to the same game. there should be an option to do this on Online Multiplayer interface.

HOW DO I CONNECT MY TWO PS3 TO EACH OTHER TO PLAY MULTPLAYER

I'm pretty sure the only way to connect two PS3s together for multiplayer is to go online and play over the PlayStation Network. Of course, to do things that way, you'd have to have two copies of the games you're wanting to play--one disc for each console. Most games that are multiplayer can played that way on one console, though. You just need two controllers (or more, depending on the game and how many people you're wanting to have play).

Multi-players on games onslim PS2

On some games, Call of duty and medal of honour Rising sun, have a option for multiplayer. However, there are two types of multiplayer.
First type is the one that you are thinking of which is to be able to play face to face with two controllers.
Second type is online multiplayer which requires and internet connection.

in essance Call of duty 1 & 2 are single player games.
