Make sure that disc is cleaned, if you have an lens cleaning disc then run it. Depending on which system that you have...not all PS2/PS1 disc not compatable with PS3. Make sure that you have the right one if running an PS2 disc or check the compatability chart with Sony to see if that game can be played with your verision. The new slimmer PS3 unit are not compatible with PS2 disc which is wy the price is cheaper because they don't have the software/hardware added to play those games.
PLEASE VOTE IF THIS IS HELPFUL. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS.
This is the error code for disk errors: "An error occurred during the start operation. (8001002B)". If the disc is clean, maybe the laser is dirty. Use a lens cleaning CD to give the laser a clean (cheap to buy). You can also try deleting the temporary game data (using Game Data Utility) and reinstall the game.
Oh dear, i'm afraid to say you've got one of the 'fatal' error codes. The error you're encountering means there is a major problem with the blu-ray drive (you're PS3 is pretty much shot)...
The only thing you can do is ring Sony's tech support and arrange for a replacement console. If you are still under their one year warranty, you will get a replacement console free of charge or if your console still works just dont play that game if it keeps freezeing its becuse of the blu-ray driver :( you would need to try setting it to factory def's or if that does'nt work try rolling back the firmware upgrades........or just buy a xbox 360..
I Believe that this means you have a dirty disc. Try cleaning it and starting again if you haven't. IF that doesn't work then the disc has corrupt info on it or is damaged!! I hope this helps!!!
If your PS3 is brand new, you most likely have to update the system's
software to a more current version in order to properly play many
Blu-Ray discs.
In order to update your PS3 system:
Go to the home menu, move to the "Settings" tab (the 2nd tab from the
far left), scroll down to "System Update". It takes about 5 minutes to
download and fully download the update, but it should solve the problem.
More information on the system update can be found below: http://www.us.playstation.com/ps3/about/systemupdate
The same thing happened to me. Played LBP for about 20 mins, the game froze and now it will not load any discs properly. It will show the game but then shows an error. I tried spraying air into it which loaded LBP for another 20 mins but then did the same thing. Of course my warranty ran out about two weeks ago. This is ********. I am not paying $150 for something SONY should pay for. I take great care of all of my equipment and own all of the new game systems and a ton of pro audio gear. None of my other equipment has ever done this only 8 months after owning it. Hell my PS2 lasted all the way up till a month ago and I just need to fix something minor on it. Is this just a coincidence that is happening after loading LBP?
