Bobbin not picking up through the needle part of the machine
I have a singer simple 3116 my bobin thread wont pick up through the needle part of my machine I have taken apart the bobbin part thing at the bottom that houses the bobbin and have put it back just like it was thinking that that would help but when I watched it from slow motion the needle would come down but not catch the bobbin thread like it is supposed to. please help.

check your needle to see if it's damaged
make sure you have a 3-5 inch tail on the bobbin thread
then make sure you have a 3-5 inch top thread tail, then hold the top thread tail in your fingers (away from the needle) & turn the handwheel on the right hand side of the machine slowly letting the needle down in the bobbin area & see if the bobbin thread will pick up that way
Your needle may be in backwards, flat side should face rear of the machine or you bobbin is unwinding in the wrong direction, refer to your manual and dvd. Call Singer at 1-800-4singer if problem persists. Good luck
Be sure needle is inserted correctly with the flat side in the proper position. Rethread the machine and try again. If it still won't work you have a timing problem which requires a technician or a good mechanic. sewman7
