Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Dyson DC01 - can't get starter button switch off.

The yellow starter button isn't pushing down hard enough on the starter switch to make the motor stay on. As soon as I let go of the button the Dyson turns off. I got a new switch and still have the problem so assume I need to get a new button - but how do i get the old one off?

We have the same issue with our purple Dyson...the red switch that turns the vacuum on won't stay engaged...we haven't had it for a year. :0(

    I can't believe this...

Wow, I have a purple Dyson, and I have the same button... It's a shame a 500.00 vacuum has to be jimmy-rigged to work properly.

We've had ours for less than a month. The switch wouldn't stay in the on position. After waiting on hold with Dyson for over 20 minutes, I hung up and took it back to the store and exchanged it for another one.

Thank you - I resolved the problem - I just removed the yellow button! Now I turn it on by pushing the switch directly. There's a hole but at least I can use the machine.

This issue is known well with dysons to be honest you will continue to have this problem for as long as you have the vacuum. they use substandard plastic parts which break easy. You will have to replace the button and make sure there are no other broken pieces of plastic in the housing before putting it back together.

How do I get the barrel off to empty my Dyson DC01

At the bottom of the clear cylinder, at the front in the middle, there's a yellow tab, or lever. If you push that down, the cylinder can swing out. The clear cylinder can be slid out downwards, you may have to wiggle it a bit.

Just out of interest, if you wish you can swing the cylinder right up, and the hinge at the top will pop off; that might make it easier for you (you can hold the cylinder between your feet and pull the other part off the top of it!), but it's a bit stiff to push it back on, and I always worry that I'm going to hurt it when I do it with mine.

Just put together my dyson dc25 and beater bar wont spin

Hi there,

The brushbar on your DC25 can be switched on for vacuuming carpets, or off for vacuuming hard floors.

To turn the brushbar on or off, use the silver button located to the motor on/off button. Information on how to operate DC25 is provided in the user guide supplied with your machine. You might find this link useful if you don't have your user guide to hand:

Hopefully this should resolve your issue. If you require any further advice on using or maintaining your DC25, please get in touch with us, free, on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Brush bar is not turning when I turn on my dison vacum

Hi There,

The Dyson DC15 All floors is actually a 2 motor upright, meaning the suction motor is separate from the motor that rotates the brushes. The first thing you should check is the reset switch on the brushes. Behind the brushes there is a little red pole, push this down to reset the brushes, and see if this fixes the problem.

If not, then you may have a bad on/off switch for the roller brushes. Try pushing the switch next to the main on/off switch that controls the brushes up and down, up and down, can you hear the brushes attempt to come on at all? If you could hear them come on even somewhat, this means that your brush on/off switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

If nothing happens when you push this switch, it still may be bad and not getting any power at all to it.

Does the machine make any sound at all when you try to turn the brush switch on and off?

Please try pushing the reset switch, then testing the on/off switch first. If neither one of these solutions works, please just use the comment field on the repair and let me know, and I can then walk you through some more advanced diagnosing of your machine.
