Re: Brother 1440 Printer won't print after power outtage
Hi mawolpe, I would suggest you update your printer drivers, try this, follow instructions exactly as written:
Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name).Un-intall printer and printer software completely.Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu.Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - .Power down your computer.Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc.Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files.Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

this is normally a symptom of the Fuser unit failing within the printer. our company uses nothing but Brother printers and i have seen this error a few times.
on very rare occasions its not the fuser and unplugging the power lead and leaving it for ten minutes will resolve the problem. if you have already tried this however the problem your getting is to-do with the Fuser unit within the printer being broken..
unfortunately from past experiences a replacement fuser unit for one of these laser printers is actually more than the cost of a new laser printer...
a quick google search revealed this site who are offering fuser replacements for $119.00
First: Soft Reset 1. Open front cover. 2. Hold down button located under LED's until all LED's
are lit. 3. Release button and make sure drum LED is off, then 4. Close cover
Second: Factory Reset 1. Turn the printer off. 2. Hold in the circular button on the front panel of the printer. 3. Turn the printer back on. 4. When the DRUM light is lit by itself let go of the button. 5. Hold in the circular button on the front panel again. 6. Once the Alarm light comes on, let go of the button. This will perform a factory reset on the printer.
I hope that's everything you want. Please accept this answer if this will help you. Thank you for using Fixya.
Reboot your computer and power down your printer. Leave them off for about 30 minutes or even overnight. (In other words, leave the computer and printer off more than a few minutes--some of the printers take more than 5 minutes before they'll clear their memories--a quick reboot won't do it.)
When deleting print copies it is safer to use the delete button on the printer than to delete from your computer, as then the copies don't get hung up in spooling.
I've had to do this a few times with Vista and printers, as things get held up in spooling on a regular basis.
I had the same problem after a resent power outage. Here's what fixed mine.
Turn the power switch off. Wait a 15-20 seconds While holding the button on the front panel down turn the power switch on. After the drum light comes on release the button wait then press the button again. Turn the machine off then back on again and you should be back in business.
To prevent the problem in the future if you are not using the printer turn it off and if the power goes off while printing get the printer turned off before the power comes back.
