Power went out and back on; now printer won't print

We had a power outage, now the printer Brother 1440 won't print. Tried disconnecting everything and reconnecting, all the lights (Drum, Ready, Alarm and Data) are continously blinking. What should I do?

I had the same problem after a resent power outage. Here's what fixed mine.

Turn the power switch off.
Wait a 15-20 seconds
While holding the button on the front panel down turn the power switch on.
After the drum light comes on release the button wait then press the button again.
Turn the machine off then back on again and you should be back in business.

To prevent the problem in the future if you are not using the printer turn it off and if the power goes off while printing get the printer turned off before the power comes back.

Try first unplugging power, and removing toner
check inside for foreign objects or fragments of paper
Open all doors and close them back , and plug back power.

Was printing the the printer made a strange noise and now it will not print and the alarm light will not go off. Have disconnected it from the power and tried turning it off, but so far nothing. Thank...

if all the L.E.D.S light, and then the drum and ready l.e.d.s light then your printer needs a new laser unit. Not worth fixing. If the sound is high pitched that confirms it. Good luck.

Won't print. Red light blinking

Reboot your computer and power down your printer. Leave them off for about 30 minutes or even overnight. (In other words, leave the computer and printer off more than a few minutes--some of the printers take more than 5 minutes before they'll clear their memories--a quick reboot won't do it.)

When deleting print copies it is safer to use the delete button on the printer than to delete from your computer, as then the copies don't get hung up in spooling.

I've had to do this a few times with Vista and printers, as things get held up in spooling on a regular basis.

If you see any of these service call indications, turn off the power switch, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on and try to print again.

Note
They will tell you if it is fried
