LaptopExpert suggested that If no lights turn on, no fan spins.. your DC jack is bad...But,I removed the jack and pigtail and did a continuity test and bot positive and negative have continuity. Nothing lights up thugh when powere on. Does this mean motherboard is bad? (power supply is tested and good also).

You will most likely need to replace the dc jack, which is the port where your charger plug plugs into...

To test if your dc jack is bad... Remove the Battery, Plug the Power cord into laptop then attempt to power on... If no lights turn on, no fan spins.. your DC jack is bad...
DC Jacks Cost $6 to $10 but you need to find someone experienced to replace it, or you might end up with a dead motherboard as well..

Sony stopped putting the DC jack on the motherboard on most of the newer VAIO's. It is now a separate unit with a power pigtail that plugs into the motherboard. These are easy to replace and can be found regularly on Ebay.

It may just be overheating. The fan inside might be not working properly or it could be clogged up with dust where the vents are. If you feel confident enough it would be worth you stripping it down and checking the insides.

Sony vaio pcg-2j3l desktop will not power on

Just to clarify, the box (power brick) in the middle of the power cord is the power supply. With that said, there is a light on the box (may be green, blue, or some other color). Does it come on when you plug it in (assuming that the wall outlet or serge protector has power)? If it doesn't then the power cable needs to be replaced. If it does then there is something wrong with either the cable going between the box and the computer, the power connector, or the connector on the computer.

I have a sony vaio model pcg-61611L. When I hit the power button it turns green and stays on but I cant get the screen to show a picture. I have taken the memory sticks out and tried them one by one but...

I have 3 of these laptop Pcg-61611l and all 3 are black screen on start up. Sony has a problem with this and is not saying any thing about it. What I do is turn on laptop let the green power bottom stay on ,walk away for 10 to 15 minutes then shut it down and restart you should see the three green lights by the power bottom flash twice and then your working again . Laptop will work fine until you turn it off. Repeat to power back up.

Sony vaio pcg-grt170 when I push the power button, the green light and 2 yellow lights blink one time but the computer will not turn on. I tried taking the battery out, checked the power cord.

Perform these steps and the issue will be resolved if the issue is with the Static charges on the Mother board.

I recommend you use Power Drain procedure by following these steps:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and do NOT connect the battery now.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.
