How to Remove the starter motor on a 1997 Acura 3.5 RL

It is under the car at the rear. Here is the procedure to remove it.
Removal

1. Ensure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons.

NOTE:
The PCM memory setting is needed after reconnecting the battery.

2. Disconnect the battery negative terminal, disconnect the positive terminal.

3. Raise the coolant reservoir. Remove the battery and battery base.

4. Remove the alternator belt and alternator.

5. Remove the left exhaust manifold cover.

6. Remove the left damper fork.

7. Disconnect the left suspension lower arm ball joint.

8. Remove the left axle shaft.

9. Remove the transmission stop collar, and remove the exhaust pipe.

10. Remove the front mount mounting bolts.

11. Attach the chain hoist to the engine.

12. Remove the left engine mount bracket.

13. Disconnect the starter cable and BLK/WHT wire, remove the starter.

Could be the battery isn't charged enough to turn the motor over. Try jumping it and listen under the hood for any grinding or metalic sounds. You can have lights inside but not enough to start the motor.

1: pull battery cable negative lug, or BOOM, eat acid go blind, etc.
2: remove all cables from Starter.
3: unbolt it , it falls out.

does engine turn by hand? if not,its seized.
the starter can pull 500 amps. (if cold) its called a series wound motor.
and the harder the engine turns, the more amps and HP from this
electric motor. id turn it by hand, if you can turn the engine crank
by hand than try real jumper cable (they cost more) and if they
fail the starter is jammed, or is shorted.
starters can be dead, shorted, open, weak, or jammed.
if the engine spins, take the starter to any autostore, they test it for free.

Carefuly Lock for front plastic ring and plastic plate and take off lock pin and remove scew ..then remove carefuly Dasboard with flat connection

it would be much easier and cheaper if you write down your VIN and take it to a local Acura dealership . They can cut you a new key for ten to $15.00 .

It is mounted on the driver side of the engine, below the left exhaust manifold. The left CV axle must be removed to remove the starter.

you should find it under the hood in the main fuse box you will have to look in your handbook to pin point its location normally black 5 pin
