The recorder has it's own channel tuner think of it like a tv without a screen... as long as you have tuned in the channels and select the correct one to record it will record it.. you can turn off the tv it is just used to view

Hey my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see where you want to run the SanyoDVW-6000 DVD/VCR Player to the DISH Network receiver. You can run the SanyoDVD/VCR directly to the TV and pick the channel you want to record and it willrecord the channel showing.

Dvd player/recorder DRW 500 does not pick up channels after installing DTV converter box. it will record directly but can't be set for timed recording because it did not find channels

You want to set the recorder timer to record the out put channel of the converter box (either 3 or 4 ) then tune your converter box to the channel you want to record, and leave the converter box turned on until you are done with the timed recording.

Watch while recording

Make sure the DVD has RF lead and Scart lead connected in and also BOTH connected out to the TV. When you record from TV use channel numbers, when you record from cable use AV channel, (on DVD). When watching TV use TV channels 1 to 5, when watching Cable use AV channel, (on TV).

Can't tune stations from freeview box to DVDR3380/5

You can only record freeview channels through your box.

Assuming the digi-box has two scart sockets, connect as follows:

  • Scart 1 or TV scart of the digi-box to the TV.
  • Scart 2 or VCR/DVD scart of the digi-box to scart 1 of the DVDR3380.
The TV aerial should already be connected through the digi-box and DVDR3380 to the TV

To record from the digi-box, select AV1 / E1 / EXT1 on the DVDR3380
If you are doing timer recordings, you will also need to leave the freeview box on the channel you wish to record, or set the freeview box timer.
