Question about Technics SL-PD5 5-Disc CD Changer

3 Answers

Technics 5 disc will not play. The changer just keeps going round and round but won't stop to play any disc. Mine is an SD-S2300 or SD-S3300, purchased in the late l980.s or early l990's. How do I fix this problem?

Hmmm...sounds like perhaps it is time for a major revision. that is usually from a fault in the detector, which in those older unites was an led, either infrared or other type..you like getting inside one of these?

That often means that you need to clean the lens.

When that happens, often that means you have a lens problem.

Use a dvd lens cleaner kit , like the ones that you see clicking here.

    If
that does not work, you will need to take apart the unit, access the
lens pickup, and clean the lens directly, using isopropyl alcohol and a
    cotton sticks.

If that still does not work, it means that the lens pickup had been damaged, in thios case the part will need to be replaced.

If you want to call a repairman you can use the model number listed on the user manual.

    Regards

Sony 5 disc cd player won't play 5 cds but plays just 1 disc

Check the mode of operation. There can be a setting where it just plays one disc. Random or mixed will give you more songs to get to other discs.

Technics SL-MC60 error message: "Take out"

Hello
If a disc has been put in the slot of the disc in play, Remove the disc, whose number is displayed, and press stop button.
Because of light or noise, the changer has detected a disc in the lot of the disc being played, even though it is empty. Check whether there is a disc in the displayed slot. With front panel closed, hold down "STOP " button for atl least four seconds or more.

I burned a CD on my PC to keep in my car and it plays OK in the car and on my PC, but does not play on my Technics SL-PD687 5 disc cd player. It's recorded in *.cda format and it's on a CD-RW. Any...

The problem with old CD Players are that they sometimes are a little fidgety when it comes to reading CDRs.

You could try burning a new CD on the lowest possible setting, say 2x or 4x.

Also try changing the CDR brand as some cheap CDRs are prone to not reading in old CD Drives.

Try using a regular CD-R (CD recordable - record only once) instead of a CD-RW (CD rewritable - rewrite multiple times). CD-RW use a different "ink" to write the data to the disc and can be re-recorded/erased a couple of times before it loses its ability to write effectively to it.

There is a product called a cd/dvd lens cleaning disc. Worth the investment to have around.

Be sure discs are free of dust and scratches.

I have a technics 5 changer CD player, model# SL-PD687 and when I place a CD in there it no longer plays the CD. It just moves through all 5 CDs and stops without playing them.

You ever get a solution to this, mate?

I have the same freaki'n issue with mine all of a sudden. Suspect the power supply's not delivering enough power to rotate the spindle-motor anymore, cause if I take this motor out and connect it to a 1.5V battery, it runs...

let me know if you've found the solution please on: tobie dot steyn at gmail dot com.

No play

Sounds like the drive belt that spins the disk is slipping or broken. You have only one actual cd reader so no matter what slot the disc is in it has to go to the same cd reader drive.

Hope this helps...
