Question about Bose LifeStyle 5 Series-III CD Shelf System
What capacitor did you choose ?? 100V or 250V with 33µF ??
You could send me an email email@example.com

According to other threads this is due to a bad capacitor (either C19 or C16). It is a 33uF capacitor rated at 25V. Needs to be replaced by a 33uF higher voltage (like 63V). Have the same issue but have not yet completed the fix. Please perform a search on the forum and you will find it. It says is on the lower left side of the console pcb.

This can be repaired of it's later than a series 1. (not sure if the 1997 model was a series 1)
Repair cost will be $225 plus tax (flat rate). Shipping is split between you and Bose.
They give you a new 1 year warranty.
Otherwise, Bose can have you trade this in for about 25% off a new, current system.
-If this still powers up, make sure the small 1/8" portion of the input cable (plugged into "system control 1") is in good condition, because you may just need to replace that input cable for a no audio situation. If it's a different series, it will say "zone 1" I think.
In either case, you should call Bose tech support about this. (800-367-4008) Make sure you're with your system so they know what series of LS5 this is.

They are tight with the files, I copied songs to new harddrive using nortons ghost, but when in installed harddrive back song looked to play as normal but with sound... Nearly but no luck.
Talking with service man, said its different format, i thought it was FAT32 (computer said) but service man said different.
