Go to control panel, and open device manager..look for the sound section..if it is not there, then do a new hardware routine.

Installed a new router and now my speakers don't work. How do I fix this?

The router change shouldn't have any affect on your sound or your speakers. You need to start checking things out. Is sound accidentally shut off at the speakers?? Have speakers came unplugged at back of computer?? Has the sound been mistakenly shut off at the keyboard?

I uninstalled my sound device. How to restore it?

Hi michellem769 ,

If you have uninstalled your sound device you can resintall it following the below instructions :-

  1. Insert your motherboard's cd in the cd rom drive.
  2. An autorun program will come up which will have an audio driver installation option
  3. Select this option and complete the installation of the audio driver.
  4. Restart your computer and you would have your sound driver/device back again.
Hope this helps...:)

WD Pasport USB Storage. Light goes on whirring sound but does not show connection to laptop with windows 7

Once connected to the computer via cables or wireless signals, the passport storage device is recogniseable from the list of devices added. Search from the computers storage devices area to ascertian that devices as successfully added. Also attempt to store data on the device to ascertain functionality.

Sound is static-y. I switched with speakers that work, but sound is still static. You can hear a little bit, but at near max volume. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Realtek sound driver. Updated...

In regards to the sound that you are hearing it is most likely one of 2 things, ether a ground loop or bus noise. This will take testing on your part to see where the issue is.

First we will cover the most likely which is a ground loop. I included a link below that covers it in more detail if you would like to read it. For the most part you have a device that is connected to you computer grounding out through the computer. Which is fine and happens all the tiime with electronics. The reason why you hear the sound is the path to ground is going through the sound card causing an induction on the sound card causing the sound you hear. So the easy way to find out for sure is unplug all devices from the computer except for your monitor and speakers. If the sound goes away then most like this is what your issue was.

To fix it you will need a ground loop isolator for that device. What this does is reroute the ground signal so it does not ground through your computer/audio equipment. Note this is the same thing that can happen with your home recevier too.

Ground Loop
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_loop_(electricity)

The other issue witch is remote is that you have bus noise. It is kinda of the same effect but a totally different cause. Sometimes if you get to much data traveling on a data bus circuit it will cause the same induction causing the noise. However since you have a Dell it is remote that this is the issue unless you added a card internally to the computer and/or added a hefty USB device to the system. The devices may have not been tested with this system. On the other side this might me an issue with the motherboard as well. So it would not hurt to call Dell support if it is not a ground loop issue.

Hope this helps

It will boot up to the windows screen and freezes.

If your computer was able to boot up but unable to load the Windows, the most common cause would be the recently intstalled software or Windows update.

To remove this, follow these steps. Skip Step 1 if it is not relevant.

Step 1: Removing recently added hardware
Use the steps in this section to disconnect any recently added hardware and test for the error.

NOTE: If a new internal device (sound card, hard drive, or other) was added to the computer before the error message started to occur, you have to remove it before continuing.

  1. Turn off the PC and unplug the power cord.
  2. Disconnect the mouse, and any other peripherals attached (Printer, scanner, webcam, zip drive, phone cord, network cable and other devices). Leave only the keyboard and monitor cable attached.
  3. Press and hold the power button on the front of the PC. Release after 10 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back in.
  5. Turn on the computer.
  6. The computer displays the We apologize for the inconvenience... message. Allow the timer to count down from 30 to 0.
  7. If the computer successfully starts to the Windows desktop and does not restart to the error message, connect one device and wait until Windows recognizes it.
  8. To find if a device is causing the error, continue connecting the devices, one at a time, restarting the computer each time, until the device that is causing the error is found.
NOTE: If this does not solve the issue try to do a system restore BUT it will delete all your files and programs you install by yourself after the system. You will be able to use the pc as a new pc.

I have a x-540 speaker system I brought today. Do I need a sound card to make it work with my pc. I hook it up/no sound.

A stereo computer system with resources to produce and record surround sound channels. Such surround sound channels are played or recorded using an audio card added to the computer system, which audio card controls additional speakers and/or microphones. Software for redirecting instructions from existing stereo application programs and sending these instructions to the existing audio device driver and the additional audio device driver is needed. Resources for processing the digital audio data for either extracting surround sound channels from two channel data provided by the application, or for encoding two sets of two channel audio data recorded by the two audio cards is also needed

Sound problem intel d 845 glly

Try going to device manager & look for any yellow exclamation marks or red x's especially on any sound device. If you have errors open up the devices properties and at the bottom under device status check to see if your device is working properly or not. Error messeges are in detail. If no problem there try adding on an external sound device to by pass the systems internal.

Hello

It may be the same problem that I had recently, where it said "No audio device installed", but everything looked fine in Device Manager. (If you don't know how to get there, you can look it up. It's not hard.) If that's the case, all you have to do is restart your computer (possibly a couple times).

If you're fairly certain you actually don't have an audio device installed, try a Google search for audio drivers. There are a ton of websites that can help you find and download the right one for your system. (Check the sponsored ads first!) Hope this helps!

Durabrand computer speakers

If you are using 4 speakers , click control panel and right click to open sound manager, click speakers configurations and hit the 4 channels . This might be solved. Check also your volume and adjust. Is your DVD or CD rom working well ? If not ,repair and reinstall driver.
