Question about HP Photosmart 8050 InkJet Printer
I just had both my black #99 and color #97 cartridges refilled at the store I purchaced my HP Photosmart 8050 from. When I insert the color cartride it says, color cartridge failed replace it or remove it to print using backup printing mode. I removed it and tried inserting again and received the same message. Also , if I just refilled the black cartridge , why is it printing in backup mode? Should I purchase 2 new cartridges?

Backup mode means printing with one cartridge. If the printer tells you "cartridge failed", it probably doesn't recognize it. You can try removing it from the printer and gently wipe the electric contacts on the cartridge with a dry cloth. Turn the printer off, turn it back on and reinsert the cartridge. If the message is still there, I suggest you buy a new color cartridge. You can also go to the store where you refilled your cartridges and ask for their opinion, they may be able to help too.
