Press 2nd then press the arrow up. Do it like ten times because it gets darker. For example...2nd arrow up, 2nd arrow up, 2nd arrow up, 2nd arrow up, and 2nd arrow up. If u press 2nd and the arrow down, it gets lighter. Try it. d[^_^]b

Unscrew the door on the back of the calculator, take out the battery, wait 20 seconds, put the battery back in, put the door back on, and you should be good.

Good luck,

Nothing shows up on the screen when I push any buttons. It will turn on, but after that nothing I push shows up on the screen. I have taken the batteries and the back up battery out.

Does the cursor show up at all? TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

Where is the reset button?

To reset the calculator, remove all four AAA batteries. Press and hold the ON button for fifteen seconds. Replace the batteries.

Just out of curiosity, could you describe this weird behavior?

Calculator turns on, but cannot turn off and no other buttons work.

If the TI-84 does not function even though you are sure that the
batteries are fresh, you can try manually resetting it by following steps:

1. Remove all of the AAA batteries from the graphing handheld

2. Press and hold the ON key for ten seconds

3. Replace the batteries

4. Turn on the unit

When you reset your graphing handheld, the contrast sometimes
changes. If the screen is faded or blank, adjust the contrast by
pressing 2nd and releasing up-arrow or down-arrow keys.

Reset the calculator by taking out all of the batteries, then hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Replace the batteries and see if it works again. If not, remove all of the batteries again, this time include the backup battery (you'll need a small phillips screwdriver). Wait 5 minutes and reinstall the batteries. Hope it works for you. g.

I've tried to update my Calculator but now when i trie to turn the calculator on it gets stuck: The bar is at 100% and its says Loading operationg system.... I've waited for more than 1 hour and nothing!...

On the back of your NSpire there should be a small button that says 'reset'. Using a pencil or similar instrument, press this button and then try turning on your kindle.

If this fails to work, remove the batteries for around 30 seconds. Then replace them and turn on your nspire.

I just changed the batteries in my calc and now it won't turn on. Is there a reset button?

There's no reset button. But TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If that doesn't work, remove all four AAA batteries. Press and hold the ON key for ten seconds. Replace the batteries and turn the calculator on. (You may have to adjust the screen as described above.)

If that doesn't work, please append a comment to this post and we'll go on from there.

Black-Screen/Black-Pixel Fix for TI-Calculator

This will erase all memory and reset defaults.

1. Remove 1 AAA Battery
2. Press and Hold 'ON' for 30 seconds
3. Replace AAA Battery
4. Adjust Contrast to appropriate level

If this fails, try again with ALL Batteries removed including
the backup Lithium Battery.

If all else fails, try the following reset procedure:

1. Remove ALL Batteries (inc. Backup)
2. Let Calculator sit with no batteries for 2~4 hours.
3. Hold 'ON' for 30 seconds.
4. Replace all the batteries (May be good idea to use new batteries
just in case old ones were dead)
5. Turn on Calculator
6. Change Contrast to appropriate level

- Remember to use correct batteries or calculator may not work. The
correct batteries are Alkaline, Rechargable Batteries are TOO WEAK,
Heavy Duty batteries are TOO STRONG.

TI-83 Plus Silver Edition 1.14

That means that you know your calc crashed. This can be caused by taking out the batteries durring running time, happened just randomly. Well nothing to fear just press clear and it should go away but if it stays on that screen you have problems and is best to try some of these methods. Take out all the bateries and press and hold the on button for 30 seconds. Put the batteries back in and it should have reset. Warning you should archive everything incase this happens. To archive go to 2nd mem and hit enter to put a astrick next to the app (meaning archived)
