Question about Brother SE-270D Computerized Sewing Machine

2 Answers

I purchased a 750D Brother Embroidery machine earlier this year. I have had to send it back once already, so I would not like to do that if not necessary (I live in NH). Here is my problem: While doing a pattern the machine was doing a fill in at the bottom of the pattern and it started repeating the same line over and over many times before I caught it. So I retried it and it did it again. I deleted that pattern and try another one and it started doing it right away. I tried a different pattern still and it did a couple of colors then started repeating again. So I shut the machine done and tried it later, now when I start it I touch the screen and then it says the carriage will move, but it doesn’t move and the error message says that a malfunction had occurred and to shut off the machine and try it again. I have tried this several times, I have unplugged the machine and tried again, I have disconnected and reconnected the carriage and nothing seems to work. Please help!! I miss working on my machine. Thanks, Vicki Libby

HI, When your pattern comes up on the visual screen the pattern is broken into different color components. If you touch the pattern on the screen it will delete the component you hit, which will in turn bring you to next component if not the first, which will cause you to start in the same place sewing the same area over. do not touch the screen just change the thread after each component

I have the new Bernina700 embroidery machine. It has locked up on me five times already during embroidery. When it does this, nothing works on screen or machine.I have to turn it off and back on again.

Since your machine is still under warranty, it may be a good idea to take it back to the dealer for a checkup. Otherwise, there are some Bernina groups on Yahoo that may be helpful. You'll need a Yahoo email account, then locate a group and request to become a member. Once admitted, you will have full access to post questions and answers, as well as previous conversations and files.

Adobe won't save it as a brother file. You need to either find or purchase a embroidery file digitizer. Hold on to your had because they are about $1200.

Cotton breaks on Brother Embroidery Galaxie 2100 machine

Try turning down your top tension setting a bit. If its at 4 or 5, i would turn it down to about 3 ish. Cotton thread is more brittle than polyester and rayon thread.

Hope that helps :)

I have a Brother 750D innov-isi think he tenchion

If the thread is pulling through the top of the fabric slacken off the top tension to about 4 and tighten the bobbin tension slightly by turning the screw on the bobbin case about a quarter of a turn clockwise and test.

Once I set up my design card and select design, the needle moves

Hi, and welcome to FixYa. If I understand your problem, the needle goes in and out of your fabric, and the embroidery hoop moves, but the machine does not actually start embroidering your design right away....did I get it right? If have time to answer a few questions, I can give more accurate instructions.

  1. How long have you had your machine?
  2. How long have you been doing machine embroidery?
  3. Do you have a manual for your machine?
  4. Look at the back side of your design - do you see lots of bobbin thread, or hardly any?
  5. Have you taken lessons for your machine or for embroidery?
  6. When your design is finished, can you where the machine skipped stitches?
Here a couple of things you can try (if you have already):

  • Make sure you use an embroidery needle, not a universal. In most cases, you should use a size 90. Change your needle after each project. A blunt need can cause your machine to skip embroidery stitches anywhere in the design.
  • Rewind or replace your bobbin. Make sure you use bobbin thread in your bobbin when you embroider - it is thinner and gives you better tension. If pre-wound embroidery bobbins are compatible with your machine, I recommend that you try one and compare the result with designs sewn using the bobbin thread you've been using.
  • Normally, you should loosen your tension a little bit when you embroider. When you look at the back side of your embroidery, you should see more bobbin thread than embroidery thread.
I owned an embroidery business for several years, and I have six different embroidery machines of my own - so with a little more info from you, I think I can help.

Connecting to a computer

Are you asking how to connect the Brother PE-400D sewing machine?  You have "how to connect the '4000D' to a computer and what risk if any".  Which machine are you asking about - these are two different sewing machines.  If you are inquiring about the Brother PE 400-D, then your answer is... this machine is NOT capable of being connected to a computer.  However, if you wish to purchase or download embroidery designs from the internet, you may look into purchasing the Brother PE Basic. This allows you to download embroidery designs from the internet to your computer hard drive and then load them on to a Brother memory card.  The Brother memory card can then be slipped into the proper slot for the memory card on the sewing machine.  You will need to purchase embroider designs that are in the PES format for you Brother machine to read it.  Hope this helps!
