Water was sucked into Miele Vacuum

I think my husband sucked up a bunch of water into the vacuum and it slowly just shut itelf off and now wont come back on. I briefly smelt some burning, so Im assuming the water is causing the problem. I just hope it's fixable????

The motor is shot.they cant handle water. you are looking at a very expensive repair. miele parts are about the most expensive around. next time look at a panasonic, or riccar. or for a lifetime vac, look at the Metropolitan, made in the USA(around $400)

Throw it away - water would have corroded the insulation and/or motor windings - resulting in a live short. Not worth repairing or risking your life with it. Buy a new vacuum.

Hoover brush and wash instruction manual

Hi there! To prepare for cleaning, put the solution and water in the top tank. While cleaning, all the dirty water gets sucked into the bottom tank. To clean squeeze trigger to release cleaning solution and slowly push carpet cleaner forward, this equals one wet stroke. Continue to squeeze trigger and slowly pull carpet cleaner back toward you (second wet stroke). Release trigger and slowly push carpet cleaner forward over area just sprayed with solution (dry stroke). Then slowly pull carpet cleaner back toward you without squeezing trigger (dry stroke). To avoid saturating the carpet don't do more than 4 wet strokes over one area. Always end with dry strokes. Here is a link to view the instruction manual if needed.

My husband sucked up part of a rug. The belt didn't shut off like I thought it was supposed to. Now there is a funny loud hum when the brush is running. There are also some fuzzy disc-like things around...

See if you can take the brush assembly off. There should be a plate and 2 screws. One on each side. You can lift out the brush and get all of the strings and such off of the roller brush. You might have to go a little deeper with it open and see if anything got sucked up the vent way.

Tank not collecting dirty water

You most likely have a break in your suction hose. check at the base where it attaches. When you bring back the handle release, you can see lt. If you have the type that has the external plug in for the water, then you probably don't have the hose part plugged in to the collection tank. in the front of the collection tank. Your motor shut off? Well, If you have the first variety cleaner w/built in hose, you may have sucked water into/onto your motor. If this is the case you need to bring it for service. otherwise, you could have a blockage in your collection hose, this would also explain the machine shut down, from the thermosat. A clogged machine will ultimately overheat, wont run again till cooled.

Dirty water is leaking back out

After shut off all steamvacs will leak dirty water that was sucked up back out. There is always some left in the nozzle. If it is a large amount there is clogged filter that isnt allowing the proper suction. Refer to your manual or go to hoover.com to download one for cleaning directions.
