Wireless question - Thinkpad R51

I bought a refurbished IBM Thinkpad R51 running XP. The wireless connection works fine, but it is on all the time. I do not know how to get to the IBM support because the blue Access IBM button does not work either. I downloaded and installed that program but it does not work.

- i do not know how to turn the wireless off
- i cannot connect via ethernet cable, the system ignores ethernet and reverts to wireless.

Thanks!

I have an ibm R51 and the radio is off and it keeps telling me to turn it on to use wireless but never works.

Look for the wireless on/off switch of the wireless adapter. Usually it is located infront of the computer right beside the LED indicators. Make sure that the switch is in ON position. If not infront, look on the side. You can also enable/disable the wireless network card by pressing Fn + F5.

Access built in owners manual.

If you just want to disable the wireless lan, you can go to the control panel, network connections, and right-click on the wireless connection icon. Click on "Disable". Re-enable it by going to the same place and click on "Enable".
In order for the "Access IBM" button to work you have to have the software installed. You can tell if it's installed by looking on the start menu under programs

Hi, I have an IBM R51 Type 2887 Thinkpad that came with Windows XP Home edition. I formatted the laptop and put the Windows XP Professional in it. However, it could not install few key drivers (Eg. CD ROM,...

You need to access a computer that is connected to the Internet, (try going to a friend or work mate or nternet cafe etc.)

Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows XP audio driver for your model laptop,
www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-39956.html

Copy the downloaded files and install them on your computer.
