The problem could be a number of things.
1st the lift up motor for the tray could be broken
2nd the sensor at the back could be broken therfore not telling the machine to lift the paper into posn.
If inno73 suggestion doesn't fix it i'm afraid you well have to call a tech as it will probably need parts.
Could be that the tray has not lifted the paper into position or something is blocking the sensor. Take the tray out of the machine and look way in the back to see if there is perhaps a piece of paper back there crumpled up and blocking a sensor. Cycle the power (off and on with both power switches) after doing this and see if that clears it.

or more after the polygon motor rotates.
The motor lock signal is detected for 1sec
during rotation of the polygon motor.
Cause Polygon motor unit failure
Polygon motor connection harness trouble

MCU PWB failure
Check
and
remedy
Check the polygon motor operation with
SIM 61-1.
Check connector/harness of polygon
motor
Replace the polygon motor.
Replace the MCU PWB.
If the polygon motor isn't working then you will neeto buy a new Laser Unit. They can be expensive if you can get one. To replace it will tak alot of disassembly as well. Might be better and more cost effective to get a new machine.
