Laptops won't connect to D-Link router after resetting modem
HI , My comp system was shut off. When we turned it all on our modem wasn't working. ( bellsouth modem ) we called modem support and our desktop worked again. HOWEVER, now our 2 laptops are not connecting to our wireless. D-Link 524 2.4gz. We reset the router but still nothing..we can connect to a neighbor's system and that is how we are on right now.

Hi Susie With related to your particular issue it seems like that your broadband modem is not configured for the router. There are basically 2 types of connection. DSL and Cable modem. Verizon, ATT are DSL and comcast other providers give you a normal cable broadband connection. If its comcast make sure the cable from the comcast modem is going to the internet port in the linksys router and also make sure that there is a system connection the linksys router and the cable from the system goes to any of LAN 1, 2, 3 and 4 ports. Then reset your cable modem by using a pin and inserting to the reset hole in the modem. You could use the same step to reset your linksys router as well .If its a verizon or dsl connection you need to put normally your username and password in the router page. here is the link to how to configure linksys for your internet modem. Also post the linksys router model. your ISP modem model number and also information on how many systems are wired to the router and wireless and let me know if you need more help.
Hi Connect the modem and the router. Make sure the cable from the modem goes to the internet port in the router. Reset the modem.Resetting the modem can be done by using a paper clip and insert it to the reset hole found on the back of the modem. Restart your router and systems. Check if this resolves your issue. Post your results.
When your laptop is working, check the ip address.
Open your DOS PROMPT, type iconfig then click enter. If your ip address on the laptop is 192.168.x.x, that means that you are getting your internet from the router. If your ip address is (just an example:68.x.x.x, that means that the router is not functioning properly.
If the laptop ip is 68.x.x.x(just an example), make sure that your comcast modem is connected to the INTERNET PORT of your router.
You just bought your router so the best way to deal with this problem is call Dlink tech support so they can walk you thru the router configuration.
Hi, Looks like when you reset the router/mdm you have los all yur configuration and back to the default factory settings.
Bridge the modem first . 1. In your web browser browse to »<your mdoms deault gateway> This address will be found in your manual of your modem 2,Depending on your modem make sure you use "Bridged Mode (PPPoE is not used)"
3. Click Save Changes.
4. Then connect the router
5.Configure the router for PPPoE using your ISP uid/pass
6.Configure your wireless using WEP(if applicable)
7.after all configuration shut the desktop,laptop,router,mdm and pwr them in seg..first modem and then router and then your desktop or laptop
