The ground wire may have touched something it shouldn't have. That may have made the pop, but usually you will see where is made contact by a burn or arc mark.
If you get real lucky and depending on what it touch (that is if this is what happenned) you may have just blown out the main fuse.
It is black and round (about 3/8" in diameter and about that height.
It is marked 3.15A.
Another POP could have been a capacitor installed in backwards ??
White screen thing, however, is usually not caused by inverter or power board issues like capacitors !!

Yes they do make them in rectangular versions also.

I have the fuses if you can't find them.

Hopefully that is all that popped !!

Screen only stays on for a few seconds then goes blank, you can turn the power off and the same thing will happen, I hook the monitor up to a different pc and the same problem.

the Proview PL926 uses the same power supply board as the Gate FPD1975 and it is known to have issues with the capacitors. Here is a link to information on repairing the board.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

When I turn on PC, half of the left lcd monitor screen is normal and half on the right is solid white. The left side seems to work as usual. Pressing the buttons on the side of the monitor to reset it does...

Could be a loose connection, but this model is notorious for bad capacitors. Replacing capacitors is a pretty easy task, but not for everyone (takes about an hour the first time, and parts cost is usually < $10)

have a look at the board open up the monitor and remove the boards and you have to look for doomed or colored caps, they will be obvious compared to the good flat caps on the board. replacing these will most likely repair your issues.

Proview 19# model PL926Wbi

thers Sounds like the problem I'm having /had exactly. When I opened the case I found that like others the 470mf capacitors on the power board had gone bad. (See the post from Delphiuser)

The capacitors are probably from a Chinese company called Xandu and I'm currently looking for a replacement capacitor to fit the circuit. Its a 470 mf cap with a 25 volt rating .

Replaced all 470mf caps still "No Joy" !
Question: There is a very large Capacitor rating 400V that has brown stuff on its side where it was folded down onto the board!
Is this some type of adhesive or has this capacitor blown!
Might sound like a really stupid question , but never took electronics courses just learned a few things from my best friends dad

Yes if you have soldering tool, you can do it by yourself. Check other components as well such as lamps.

You are on the right track. Sometimes the ribbon cables will look fine but the wire inside the insulation is broken and will result in intermittant problems. Definately check the cable first and repair or replace. It is best to meter the cable while not connected to avoid false readings through other components. Should be a relatively easy repair.

Proview PL926Wbi LCD Monitor White Screen

I found in the refuse, a Gateway FPD 1520, 15" LCD monitor that started off losing the screen half-way, losing sync, etc. The "mechanical agitation" method was applied and remedied the problem. Awhile ago, it went to a white screen (or, as it was back in the day- a clean raster). I opened it up and found that the ribbon cable on the left was loose. I applied a series of layers of adhesive-backed foam (the kind you stop drafts in your home with) until it was greater than the height of the metal enclosure to put pressure on the unbehaving connector. It does seem a bit loose and this will keep it snug. Maybe hot glue or other adhesive if it wiggles loose again. Seems to have solved the problem at the moment.
