Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

1 Answer

DS Lite won't detect ds cards most of the time.

We tried cleaning inside the card slot but to no avail. If we keep turning it off and turning it on again it might detect the card after 20 times or so. If it does detect it then it will freeze during the game.

Sometimes when we power it up the nintendo DS logo doesn't fully appear and it hangs.

Is this beyond repair or is there anything that can be done to fix it?

can't say I have a solution for it.. what I've found works most of the time is the old original nintendo 16bit fix... blow on the card a little with warm breath... I think it puts a little moisture on the contacts which makes it work... I have a few that do this to me and that usually makes them work... I don't see anything wrong with my ds, nor the carts, all the contacts look clean, so not sure.. but the exhaling on it a little usually fixes it up...

Make sure your game card are clean. Kids will get all kinds of the stuff in there from lint to food. A blast of can air helps and you can also clean the cards with q-tip and alcohol(just a little bit not real wet)Damp! Then let dry! That help stop the build up of crud on the cards.

My daughters ds lite will not load her r4 card any more,it saysthere is no DS card inserted.!!

CAREFULLY use pressurized air on the ds hopefully this will clean out any dust. Blow on the hole. Check another game to see if it works instead of the game you constantly keep trying. Ask her if the ds ever got wet, because once a DS gets wet and you've been turning it on or off it fries the motherboard inside and it's pretty much useless.

When games are inserted into console they will not play

If you are inserting a DS card, be sure there are no foreign articles inside the slot. Blow into the DS card slot to clear any debris. Also be sure you are inserting the card all the way in until it clicks. I've also found that if you're powering on a game, and you bump, grasp or touch the ds card as the DS is powering on, that can cause it to not read games.

Check the actual DS card itself and carefully look at the exposed contacts on the circuit board. Be sure none of them are scratched, damaged or otherwise. A scratch can damage a contact, thus preventing proper data read.

If anything was spilled onto the DS card, be sure it is thoroughly cleaned with a damp cloth (no cleeaning chemicals!) If you immerse the DS card, or pour liquids on it, that may damage it as well.

Same points hold true for inserting a Gameboy Advance game (if you have a DS or a DS Lite. The DSi and DSiXL do not have Gameboy Advance slots.

If you turn on the DS and nothing happens, try a different DS Card. If it only happens with that one particular game (or games) your DS cards are damaged or need cleaning. If all your games are not playing, there is a problem with your DS. Try your games in a friend's DS just to make sure. You'll probably have to send the unit to Nintendo for repair, or take it to an authorized repair center.

try compressed air.
more then likely its a hardware issue. try getting an R4DS card and download games from www.filestube.com if you dont want to repair it.
you can have 50+ games on an sd card and not have to lug around all those games anymore

I've recently downloaded some free games for Nintendo DS Lite into a micro SD card - around 8 games in total. However, when I inserted the micro-SD card (through the adopter) into the DS game slot on top...

put the software on the sd card the ds kernal software then goto the removeble drive, open it and create a new folder, call it Games, put all of the games into this folder so it creates a new directory in the menu. Make sure you u use winrar or winzip to extract the files to the folder.

A freezing nintendo lite!

The DS Card Slot may be loose. If so, try not to touch the game card while playing.

Or, there may be a piece of dust or lint in the card slot. If you can see the lint, pick it out with clean tweezers. If you cannot see it, ask a mechanic to open the Ds and pick the dust out.
