Deskjet 1220c paper feed problems

My printer has now decided that it will not feed any paper from any position and takes much juggling and frustration to make it feed through one sheet of standard A4. This still happens regardless of the anount of sheets on the tray. Originally it used to take multiple sheets through. I didn't mind this so much as I had time to feed single sheets through, but this non-feeding problem is a royal pain. Do you have any suggestions as to what it might be/how to resolve this. Many thanks. Penny

What is the make and model of the printer? Is it inkjet or laser? This information will quickly help narrow the problem.
If it is a laser printer you may just need new feed tires and separation pad. I will check back for the other info to try to help.

Hi,

Fix as promised... totally stripped the machine down today and a cleaned the Cam on the lifting gear and it works a treat now. To do this involves taking a lot of screws out inc the top opener, both sides and the front exit paper feed (three screws and two spindle holders).

It's an HP1220c Deskjet (Inkjet I think). I took it off the desk after I posted this and gave it a good clean out and watched it from different angles as it tried to feed paper. As far as I can make out when it is about to draw the paper through, a grey 'ramp' flips up to push the paper through, it drops back imediately, do you think it is supposed to stay up to keep the paper in the right position, or as you suggested that the roller tires need replacing. I have not tried this with A3 paper yet as I only have A4 at the moment. I'm a bit reluctant to buy a **** if the printer is cactus! Thanks for your help with this. Penny

My HP DeskJet 1220C printer prints only 1 page at a time. I must push the print button each time! How can I get it to just print the entire document without pushing the button?

You may have it set to manual feed. Check printer setting on desktop. You will have to do a little searching. Printer options vary quite a bit. Start by right clicking printer and choosing Printer Preferences > Paper/Quality > Paper Source. This is my route, but again yours may vary.

Hello I have no custom paper size option in my printer properties OS : windows 7 32bit Printer: HP deskjet 1220C

I would suggest you to uninstall the currently installed Hp Software and printer's driver from your computer and reinstall them. This should fix the issue if there's no problem with your computer like virus or system corrupt etc... Let me know if the problem persists.

Note: Don't forget to restart your computer before you reinstall the programs after it's/they are uninstalled.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

As far as I know this printers parts are no longer available(that depends in what region you are....ie country). I don't believe that the rear assembly is the fault. check your paper... it could be damp. this might sound strange but, the paper tends to stick together when it's damp. Fan the paper before putting it into the paper tray.

Good Luck

Printer WON'T Feed

You must clean rollers.

The rubber rollers that pull the paper from the tray may have some dust.

This is a problem with the carriage. Unplug the printer from the wall and the computer wait half an hour and then plug it back in and see if you have the same problem please post the results.
