Power button blinks green about 1 minute then goes red
I thought the reason was the bulb. I just replaced the old one, still same problem. When you press the power button. The fan turns on power button blinks green continueously for about 1 minute. Then the power light turns red and blinks until cool off of bulb.

Sounds like the bulb is not firing. I have the 44 inch model. Like it too. It is normal for the power indicator to blink for a minute or two AFTER the set has been turned off from running. get a phillips or panasonic TY-LA1000 bulb or a P22H 120 watt one if you can remove the old one from the housing (not very hard to do).
I would think that the fact that when you held the power button in for a long time that would give you a hint! If the power button is making a poor contact there will be a small surge of power and some parts of the internal circuits will respond(indicator lights, for example). Try REPLACING THE ON/OFF BUTTON.
The blinking green light signals that the inverter board is charging the bulb. If the blinking goes to red it means that this process has failed because either the inverter board is not full operational or the bulb itself has failed.
Most likely you will have to replace the bulb - here it is http://www.partstore.com/Part/Sony/Sony/KDSR60XBR1/Royal+Philips+Electronics/Philips+Lighting/F93087600RL/New.aspx If this doesn't fix it then you will have to check the inverter and power boards and replace the failing one. a tv has two components, firstly a power supply produces high voltage to trigger a line transformer, in turn a transformer produces smaller voltages. firstly check if the ht is constantly been produced from a supply, if this is there than go to a line transformer, and check voltages at the output.
I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is. no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
Having similar issue with my PT-44LCX65. Lamp blew and replaced it (last month), never figured out how to reset timer. Now red indicator light blinks once every 5 seconds and after about 4 minutes TV goes black.... Any ideas?
Please answer this question. Were the 4 bulbs visabley bad; say broken or did they have a milkey look, or broken wire inside? In other words did the bulbs you replaced look as good as a new unused bulb? Please reply.
