I have a Coby DVD 815. It is a couple of years old and has always worked fine. Recently I have been having problems with the video. I have been getting audio from the dvd's I tried to play, but no video.

The DVD938 only has analog audio input (2.1 channel), thats why you have only a white (left channel) and red (right channel) audio connection from your ps3 to the home theatre. There is an option called PROLOGIC in the setup menu that will simulate 5.1 with the 2.1, it basically takes the 2.1 channels and splits it into all the speakers.
there should be an input line of just audio cable hookups (one red and one white) that you have to run and an output cable from your tv audio output of just red and white. make sure the tv says output or line out and the surround sound system says input or line in
This cable is called a composite cable. You will use the yellow for video and the red and white for audio. your best bet would be to us an S video cable if your tv is set up for that. If so then you would use the S video and only the red and white for the audio because S video does not carry audio it only carries a video signal

make sure no dvd in and hit progressive scan 2-3 times until u get your screen .should display in upper portion of screen what mod you are on. hope this helps. goto sit for more
